Hilltop & Carpenter Partner To Host Jack Shutts Memorial Saturday

(Marietta, Ohio) With the cool October air creeping in and Halloween soon upon us, the 2016 racing season is starting to wrap up at the Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta Ohio. The venue which has played host to a busy schedule of racing in 2016, looks to finish the season off with a bang this coming Saturday October 22nd with the running of the Jack Shutts Memorial. The event which has come about very quickly thanks to the help of Freddie Carpenter and Kryptonite Chassis, will not only memorialize the life of Jack Shutts, but also serve as an exciting 2016 season finale for the Hilltop Speedway. The event will play host to a busy evening of racing highlighted by a $1,500 Late Model special as well as a $1,000 Street Stock special, plus racing in the Modifieds, Mod-Lites, 4-Cylinders and Mini Wedges.

As previously noted, the event has been a recent addition to the 2016 schedule at the Marietta Ohio venue, as track officials along with Late Model standout Freddie Carpenter combined efforts to ensure that the event would be held in 2016. The Jack Shutts Memorial which has been a staple at the Skyline Speedway in Stewart Ohio annually, is intended to only be held at the Hilltop Speedway temporarily and all parties involve look forward to keeping this tradition alive and ensuring it’s success in the future. The $1,500 Late Model special which is helped made possible by Freddie Carpenter, is certainly expected to bring it’s share of excitement as not only can fans expect to see Freddie and his son and 2016 Track Champion Tyler Carpenter battle for a late season win, but fans can also expect to see an exciting mix of Hilltop regulars and regional newcomers looking to keep their 2016 racing seasons alive and take home some extra cash in the process.

Along with the evenings Late Model special, the exciting Street Stock class will take center stage in a $1,000 to win showdown which is sure to feature many of the regions top Street Stock talents. Hilltop officials are excited to host the $1,000 special for the class, which has seen great strides and growth in 2016 following a completely revamped rulebook and efforts following a dismal 2015 season for the class. Now with the class showing signs of growth once again, Hilltop officials look forward to seeing a stout field of Street Stocks do battle for some good money and late season glory this Saturday night! As noted above, the Mod Lites are slated to make a rare appearance to “The Top” with an UNSANCTIONED event plus racing in the always exciting Modifieds, 4-Cylinders and Mini Wedges.

Gates will open to Saturday’s event at 3 PM with Mini Wedges taking to the track at 6:05 and Hot Laps set to follow. Fans are invited to come out for an exciting evening of racing and enjoy a late fall race under the lights! As an added bonus, the track plans to do a candy rush/giveaway in the spirit of Halloween and we hope to see you there!
