Atomic Speedway Set To Host AMRA Championship Saturday Night

(Waverly, Ohio) After a busy and exciting 2016 season of racing across all 3 AMRA National divisions, the Atomic Speedway located in Waverly Ohio is set to host the 2016 AMRA Championship Weekend finale on Saturday night, as the long standing sanctioning body closes out it’s final points weekend of the season. The evening of racing will not only help crown the AMRA National Champions for 2016, but the Saturday night special will also serve as a special kickoff to the month of October as each AMRA class will be running for elevated purses and valuable late season points. With drivers expected to converge on the track billed as the “nation’s fastest 3/8th mile oval,” this event is sure to give fans plenty of racing action!

As the AMRA and it’s competitors prepare for final points weekend, teams will by vying for every last spot to ensure all the points possible in order to receive their cut of the impressive AMRA points fund which will approach the $60,000 mark in 2016. With the AMRA/STARS Late Model points Championship nearly in hand, defending champion Tyler Carpenter will be looking to lock up yet another National Championship over his father Freddie Carpenter and Corey Conley whom have all led an exciting points battle at the top of the standings in 2016. However, also worth keep your eye on, will be Tyler Carpenter’s current points lead over Rod Conley in the STARS Late Model standings as this Friday’s event will be the prelude to the STARS finale on Saturday October 8th. Any AMRA/STARS Late Model competitors who invade Atomic Speedway on Saturday night, will have their hands full as the Atomic Speedway regulars such as Rod Conley, Jackie Boggs and Nick Latham will all be prepared to take on any challenges for their chance at the $3,000 top prize for the AMRA/ STARS Late Models.

On the AMRA Modified side of things, Jacob Hawkins appears to have a taken the lead for good in the AMRA National Points, after outdueling a nearly month long challenge from Mineral Wells West Virginia driver Tyler Evans and Nick Corbitt. While the top 3 AMRA Modified talents have not competed at Atomic Speedway on a regular basis in 2016, drivers such as Jackie Boggs, Dave Jamison, Brian Whiteman and former Modified Champion Mark Dickson are expected to battle for every point possible in the $1,500 AMRA Modified special come Saturday night. If the Modified racing at Atomic in 2016 is any indication of what fans can expect come Saturday night, fans are sure to get their money’s worth when the Modifieds hit the track!

Lastly, also on tap Saturday night for the AMRA Sport Mods will be a $1,000 to win AMRA Sport Mod special. The quickly growing Sport Mod class has seen great growth in 2016 and as the division reaches the final points weekend of it’s sophomore campaign, the $1,000 to win Sport Mod show promises to be one of the top purses yet for the Sport Mods. AMRA points leader Cole Perine who has been a constant presence at the front in the Sport Mod division at the Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta, but is no stranger to success at the Atomic Speedway as the young star has made numerous successful appearances to Atomic in 2016. However, while the Perine does have a comfortable points lead, Saturday nights special will be no walk in the park, as he is expected to do battle with Bob Crace Jr and Joel Richendollar who all make up the top 3 in AMRA Sport Mod National Standings and have been front runners at Atomic Speedway in 2016.

With this exciting event just days away, the AMRA and it’s officials look forward to seeing this special show unfold for the great fans and drivers who have supported Atomic Speedway, the drivers and the AMRA in 2016. Saturday’s event will also coincide with Friday’s “Harvest 50” set to take place at the Skyline Speedway which will also see AMRA/STARS and AMRA Modified specials. (Plus Sport Mods with AMRA rules)

Saturday’s event will kick off with pit gates opening at 2 PM, and General Admission gates opening at 4 PM. The evenings Hot Lap session is slated to kick off at 6 PM with racing to follow! Pit passes will be $35 for the event, while Atomic Speedway’s “Kids Pits” Pass will be $20 (Kids 12 & Under). General Admission will be set at $15 and as always, general admission is free for kids 12 & under!
