(Middlebourne, WV) – Edge Entertainment, the masterminds of the nationally recognized ‘Renegades of Dirt’ Modified Tour and sanctioning body for the EDGE Hot Mods proudly announces the running of the second annual ‘Working Mans World Championship’.

The $2000 to win event for the region’s original and most competitive economy modified class will be held August 22nd, the final event prior to the season ending $10,000 to win Earl Hill Memorial race for unsanctioned Late Models at Middlebourne, WV’s ‘Tyler County Speedway’.

EDGE director, Cody Watson has announced five qualifier races will be held for the 2015 “Working Man World Championship.” The first is set for Saturday May 2nd, as part of Tyler County Speedway’s 21st annual ‘Topless 50′ event, where the Late Models, FASTRAK LM and the EDGE Hot Mods will all be running ‘topless’ giving the fans the rare birds-eye view as they pilot their powerful machines around the oval in an impressive triple bill of topless racing action.

Hotmod racers will once again find themselves battling for a lucrative qualifier the following weekend, May 9th in which the second qualifier for the ‘WMWC’ will be held. The EDGE Hot Mods will headline in the 9th annual ‘Tammy Clegg Tribute’ race paying $500 to the winner in a special & highly anticipated event that memorializes one of the tracks most successful female racers.

A change of venue will set the tone for ‘WMWC’ qualifier race #3 on Sat. May 30th at the Ohio Valley Speedway near Lubeck, WV, as these neighboring tracks once again work in conjunction to promote true ‘grassroots’ racing in 2015.

“Blue-Collar” qualifier race #4 is part of the history making two night ‘MEGA 100′ weekend at the Tyler County Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 10 & 11. Where EDGE Entertainment’s 700hp modified tour, Renegades of Dirt, will run for $12k to win with twin $5k to win UFO Late Model events and a $3k to win FASTRAK special also on the card. ‘WMWC’ qualifier heats will be run on Friday evening with the feature race set for Saturday where the winner will also pocket the largest purse of the regular season set at twelve hundred dollars.

Once more the intensity will rise when the EDGE Hot Mods return to the Ohio Valley Speedway for the last of five ‘WMWC’ qualifier this summer. Fans can rest assured a full night of side by side racing will await them when they visit the Ohio Valley Speedway on Sat. July 18th for the final ‘WMWC’ qualifier.

Both the Tyler County Speedway and Ohio Valley Speedway have seen many physical plant improvements in recent years, and both are tracks where regional racers strive to etch their names in the respective winners record books.

Officials do want to point out a 2015 change in the format of the unique ‘Lunch Box’ trophies. Winning drivers will still receive this unequaled keepsake, but drawing their choice, with the enclosed starting position number, will be held the night of the ‘WMWC’ in front of the race night crowd in attendance. In a scene similar to the game show ‘Deal or No Deal’, the starting position die will be cast as the lunch boxes are chosen! These drivers as well as the top class point drivers not already in will lock into the dash race for the 2nd Annual $2,000 to win “Working Mans World Championship.” All other starters will advance into the big dance through traditional preliminary race procedures.

Sardis, Ohio’s Chad Smith won the inaugural ‘WMWC’, building a big lead before a hard charging Darin Clark closed to his rear bumper at the checkered flag in a race ran nearly caution free. Smith’s move to the open modified division virtually guarantees a different winner in 2015.

In additional class news, John Watson and the Hometown Racing Association, promoters of the Tyler County Speedway which is nationally known as ‘The Bullring’, have announced that the continuing class growth of the EDGE Hot Mods will allow 2 A-main feature events if the participant numbers dictate. The fast, high banked quarter mile has seen the numbers continuing to climb since the class inception in 1999. Based on the ultra-successful IMCA & USRA Sportmod divisions, the EDGE Hot Mods have proven to attract new talent into the pits.

The common sense combination of engine, suspension and tire rules is allowing outdated equipment find new life, with one 2014 class feature winner campaigning a 19 year old car and another multiple winner doing so in one of the classes original home built cars. The affordability has attracted racers of both sexes and range of ages. A true hobby class, it has also proven to provide close racing in good looking and safe cars, and is developing a following because of it, as well as the season highlighting name sake race, the Working Man World Championship.
