Conneaut, OH, April 18, 2014: Clear skies, but chilly temperatures greeted teams as they filed into Raceway 7 for the first of two scheduled practice nights for all classes.

The Campbell’s Mini-Storage Street Stocks were first on the track with six cars taking advantage of the opportunity to test setups and track conditions. After an extremely harsh winter the track was in good shape. John Phelps Jr, Ed Bolyard, Jimmy Kennerknecht, and Ken Lamp were all running as well as an un identified #22.

The Zimmer Service Center Economods had eight cars appear in their first session including a couple new entries. Steve Burns, a two time winner in the class, experienced problems with smoke erupting from the engine area of his mount. New entries for the year include Devon Henry, son of crate driver Billy Henry, Pat Adams, and Eric Reinwald, now driving a Jim Clinger entry, up from Street Stocks. For Devon Henry and Pat Adams, the session was the first time for them ever to be in a race car.

Six Evergreen Lake Park Campground Crate Late Models took to the track with reigning track champion Chad Wright leading the way. Former track champion Dennis Lunger will also be returning. Matt Latta, Breyton Santee, and Mike Lozowski also took advantage of the opportunity to test.

The Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods were represented by four entrants including fave Hess Jr, Howard Fraley, 2009 track champion Percy McDonald, and Josh McDonald.

The Specialty Products Mini Stocks had the most cars appearing. Defending track champion Brad Cole returns with the same mount while 2012 champion Bud Sergeff was in a new mount, a Chevy Monte Carlo, a change from the Grand Prix he campaigned in 2013. Dale Fraschetti , a rookie in 2013, wound up in the turn one fence. Alex and Chris Forbes, Cale Sousa, Alex Siekennan, and Jason Easler were among the thirteen cars that took to the track for practice.

Next week, April 25, weather permitting, practice again will be held for all classes beginning at 7:30 PM.
