WHEELERSBURG, OH-The 18th Annual Southern 100 weekend is now less than one month away.  This year’s edition of the Southern 100 will feature two complete seperate shows with the Southern 100 Qualifier on May 3rd paying $4,000 to win for Late Models and the Southern 100 Championship on May 4th paying $12,000 to win for Late Models.  Each show will feature time trials, heat races B-Main’s, and a combined 100 laps of A-Main racing.

The Southern 100 Qualifier on Friday, May 3rd will feature a 40 lap, $4,000 to win Late Model show along with an $800 to win show for Modifieds and a regular show for the GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars.  The Late Model format for the night will have the fast qualifier draw for a heat race invert out of a stack of envelopes that will have one #1, two #2′s, and three #3′s.  The number drawn will be the heat race invert.  Gates will open at 4:00 pm with hot laps at 7:30 pm.  General admission prices will be $15 (ages 17 and up), $10 (ages 13-16), $5 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  Pit passes will be $32 (ages 13 and up), $25 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).

The Southern 100 Championship on Friday, May 4th will determine who is the 2013 Southern 100 Champion.  Late Models will race 60 laps for $12,000 to win in what is the longest and highest paying race in the SOS modern-era.  Modifieds paying $1,000 to win, Pure Stocks and an Enduro paying $250 to win at the very end of the night will also be on the racing card.  The Late Model format will be just a little bit different.  The heat races will be inverted by 3.  The top two finishers in each heat race plus the top two finishers in the Southern 100 Qualifier that did not place top two in their heat will then run a 6 lap dash race to determine the first 4 or 5 rows (depending on car count) of the feature.  The dash will start heads up based on heat race finish with the two cars from the Southern 100 Qualifier in the last two starting positions.  Gates will open on May 4th at 4:00 pm with hot laps at 7:00 pm.  General admission prices will be $25 (ages 17 and up), $20 (ages 13-16), $10 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  Pit passes will be $35 (ages 13 and up), $30 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).
