After the race on August 20th, the Top 4 will be locked in and set equal going into the final race on October 1st. The driver that finishes the best out of those in the Top 4 wins the championship! Each classes battles are heating up and drivers knew it going into Saturday’s Heritage Unlimited Saturday Night Showdown. Teams and fans prepared themselves for an exciting night of racing and as the warm sun began to set behind the trees, the rumble of the cars could be heard through the valley.
The Hidden Gem Web Designs Sport Mods were the first cars on track. BJ Branham and Gary Griffith both picked up heat race wins early in the night setting them up for front row starting positions in the feature event. The 15 Lap feature event got under way with BJ Branham jumping out early however contenders like Griffith, Dustin Pennington and Billy Bowles weren’t far behind. Through several caution flags the field continued to try and get a run on Branham but failed to make anything work. In the final restart however, Rick Neace in his 12N car made a final run through the field passing several cars working his way up to second position. Neace drove hard trying to get to the leader Branham but as the checkered flag came down he was just one spot short! BJ Branham was the car which landed in victory with Rick Neace, Gary Griffith, Dustin Pennington and Billy Bowles rounding out the top 5.
The Woodland Altars Modifieds followed next for their 20 Lap Feature event. Dave Warnock flexed his muscles in the Heat race showing that he wanted to be back back on top, however the Dirt Modified Rookie Dustin Sword had something to say about that! Sword who is still searching for his first ever win on Dirt has been close all season long but hasn’t been able to make the final push to victory lane. Warnock fired off early with Sword and Wade Rookard in his tire tracks. As the 20 Lap event wore on, Dustin Sword gained ground in his Harris Chassis number 98 car. Sword began looking beneath Warnock’s Central Star Drilling number 44 car, each driver pushing their car to the limits in search of a win! After the checkered flag fell, Dave Warnock picked up another feature win at Brushcreek in 2016. Warnock’s win put him back in the Pay+ Program bonus position with a $200 Bonus for him on August 20th if he can win or a $200 Bonus to someone who can beat him! Following Warnock across the line was Dustin Sword, Wade Rookard, Tyler Smith and Glenn East rounding out the top 5!
After the Modified Victory Lane celebrations concluded, the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series rolled out onto the track for their Round 17 action. Shaun Scott and Lee Haskins were the Heat Race winners setting them up nicely for the feature event. When the green flag dropped the hammer was down like always. Shaun Scott jumped out ahead of the pack as they roared behind him. Drivers Such as Rusty DeMint, Lee Haskins, Tom Partin, Josh Francis and others were working behind the leaders battling for any spot they could get. Steven Partin worked his way to the second spot and began to attempt to run down Shaun Scott. After a caution flag the race was under way again with Shaun Scott holding on tot the lead over Steven Partin. Scott was able to hold on to win just his 2nd Points race of 2016 after finishing 2nd two weeks in a row behind 4 different drivers! Following Scott across the line was Steven Partin, Tom Partin, Josh Francis and Cole DeMint!
