Driving the ProTech and Kryptonite Race Cars X car, Parkersburg’s Tyler Carpenter won the dash of the Holmes Tire Late Models and then at the drop of the green for the feature, drove away from the field for win in front of another full house at the Holmes County speedplant. Dzugan Fire and Rescue quick qualifier Devon Moran started outside front row and ran a distant second while George Lee fended off every move heat winner Corey Conley had to finish third for the second week in a row. Charlie Duncan rounded out the top five as Shane McLoughlin won the other heat. For the second week in a row, the feature went non stop, this week in less than nine minutes.
Jess Hartman won the dash of the Raceday Photos Modifieds but it was fast qualifier from Zanesville, Jesse Wisecarver grabbing the lead going into turn one and then hold off early challenges from Hartman and then Nathan Loney and Tanner Wilson as both got by Hartman on lap five as they would duel for second. The caution filled feature would never let Wisecarver and his Russ James Excavating #101 build up a big lead. Wilson would exit with five laps to go as Robin Duston, Rory Reed and Hartman, who had dropped back to seventh at the halfway mark, battled for third. Reed would spin on the last lap to lose out on a top five position. Picking up his second win of the season, Wisecarver held off Loney as Hartman came back to claim third as Duston finished fourth with John Sluka scoring his second straight fifth place. Loney and Duston topped the heats.
Heat winners Bob Daugherty and Brandon Gardner led the Street Stock main to the green flag with last week’s winner, Gardner, taking the point but mechanical issues put him pitside on lap two. Daugherty of Mansfield, who dropped out early last week, inherited the lead with Bob Chilcote putting the heat on the Char’s Cars and Met’s Machine Shop #21d, early on. Working his way through the field was 13th starting Ryan Wisecaver as at the halfway mark was fourth. He and Mitch Caskey along with Todd Swim went toe to toe for third. A caution with three to go bunched the field together and on the restart, Wisecarver powered past Chilcote, who finishes third for second week in a row, with Swim overtaking Caskey, who records his second straight fifth place finish.
Greg Thompson gave up to the lead to Loudonville’s Jordan James on lap two of the Thompson’s Garage Mini Stock main and then put the 1st Choice Stump Grinding and Thompson Memorials #83 in victory lane. Brad Hensel would work through the field from his eighth starting place and edge out Thompson at the line for second. Last weeks winner, James Priebe finished fourth as Jerry Adkins rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Terry Adkins, Thompson, James and Gary Hensel Jr. with Jeff Barker pacing the last chance race.
The Bugs-R-Gone Trucks would see the father-son combination of Kevin and David Potts win the heats and then Dad Kevin go flag to flag aboard the Sunbury based Proscape Landscaping and Tickets Galore #8k for the win as David would follow in his tire tracks.Rolly Heyder made a couple of runs on David Potts for second but settled for third as John Large running fourth and last weeks winner, Cole Lillibridge, rounding out the top five.
The Mod Lites took to Hilltop Speedway for the first time this year and it was Deerfield’s Kenny Meadows and his Job Rite Pool and Spa’s #10t leading all the way for the win. Jay Dye ran uncontested for second while Kevin Nicolino held off Brian Stuhldreher and David Innes for third. Meadows and Dye won the heats races.
Twenty two Mini Wedges pulled into the pits with Levi Bowen, Blake Morris, Triston Brown, and Phil Bubeck posting the heat wins. They were divided up to make two features and Zanesville’s Morris and his Morris Trucking #1 out racing Bowen, who spun on the last lap, for the win as Braxton Wilson finished second with Hannah Rose, Bubeck and Tanner McLoughlin filling out the top five of the first feature. In the second feature, Destinie Bates took the lead on lap two from Tyler Tennant who would come back on the next lap to regain the lead and go on the park in victory lane. Dan Selway finished second as Brooke Dawson edged out Karyssa Beagle for third as Chase Settles settled for fifth.
Hilltop Speedway will not be racing next week, April 13th, but will be back in action on Saturday, April 20th with the Renegades of Dirt Modified tour rolling in for a $2,000 to win show and the Holmes Tire Late Models also going for a $2,000 to win feature. The Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and the Mini Wedges also on the docket as the Bugs-R-Gone Trucks take the night off. Check out the website athttp://www.hilltopspeedway.net/ for the latest updates.
