Stewart, Koz & Douglas Celebrate Limaland Anniversary With Wins
4 min readLimaland Motorsports Park celebrated its 81st year in existence in style on Friday night, with JR Stewart, Jeff Koz, and Chris Douglas picking up feature wins at the quarter-mile bullring.
Kicking off the nights racing was the McDonalds Dash for Cash. This week, the Bud Thunderstocks would run the dash with #82 Chris Douglas, #21H Jordan Conover, #27 Frank Paladino, and #22T Tony Anderson running the 5 lap dash. Douglas would grab the quick money, setting the stage for a big night for he and his team.
The K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders would kick off feature action with JR Stewart and #22R Kevin Roberts JR leading the field to green. #30 Hud Horton would charge to the early lead, and would hold it throughout the first half of the 25 lap affair. #17 Jared Horstman would begin his charge immediately, moving up from his 10th place start to battle for 5th in the first 2 laps. Caution would wave for #6Sean Hosey, and #15 Brandon Ferguson on lap 8, as the 2 would tangle and come to a stop in turn 2. Both cars would be finished for the night. On the restart, Stewart would start his bid for the lead, battling side by side with Horton before grabbing the lead for good on lap 14. A yellow flag for #49 Shawn Dancer, and #35 Ronnie Blair spinning in turn 4 would bunch the field back up on lap 23 for one final restart. Stewart would hold on over Horstman, Horton, #5M Max Stambaugh, and #11 Tim Allison.
In the K&N Filters UMP Modified feature, #3w Dylan Woodling and #65 Todd Sherman would lead the field to green, with Sherman grabbing the early point. Woodling would spin on lap 2, bringing out the caution and sending him to the tail. Starting on lap 3 and all throughout the feature, #22T Tony Anderson and #16 Jeff Koz would hound Sherman, with each of the 3 leading laps during the 20 lap affair. A second caution for Woodling would set the field for a green-white-checkered finish that would see Koz go to the top to grab the lead and pick up the win over Sherman, Anderson, #111 Curt Spalding, and #4 Mike Learman.
Wrapping up the nights features were the Bud Thunderstocks. #26 Justin Long, and #82 Chris Douglas would lead the field to green. Long would lead the first lap and a half before Douglas would make his move to the point. Long and #22T Tony Anderson would stay close to Douglas and keep the challenge throughout the race. Caution waved for separate incidents on laps 6 and 7, giving Anderson and Long chances to close on Douglas, but neither were able to get by. Douglas would grab his first career Limaland feature win over Anderson, #27 Frank Paladino, Long, and #00 Daniel Sanchez would complete the top 5.
Limaland is back in action next Friday night May 20th when Fritche Asphalt and Paving presents the 17th Annual Steve Brown Memorial. The Bud Thunderstocks will race for a top prize of $1000 in the feature celebrating the life of Steve Brown. Also in action will be the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders, and the K&N Filters UMP Modifieds. Visit Limaland.com for all the details.
