Princeton, WV (August 23rd, 2015)- Race ReCap
On Concord University night the weather was perfect for some great racing. Fifty-three strong cars signed in for racing action and one Super Late Model showed up to get some practice for the Dirt Cup. This was one last night for people to gain some points as it was a double points night.
Eight AMRA Open Wheel Modifieds were in the pit area for racing action. Mike Duncan would set the fast time, but then not be able to complete his second lap throwing a drive shaft. “Magic Mike” Michael Moore turned on his magic in the heat race as he would take the win. In the feature Moore jumped out to an early lead being challenged hard by Steve Stover. Stover got loose and would fall to 5th. Moore at this point would hold a large lead. Then there was a late race caution. This would bunch the field up and put Jason Cochran right on Moore’s heels. Cochran would challenge for a couple laps, but Moore would have none of it eventually powering away! Moore washed up just a little coming to the checker flag, but it was no problem as he would capture his first Princeton victory of 2015! Cochran came home second and Stover got back to third. Eric Feuchtenberger would come home with a strong fourth place finish and Robbie Childress rounded out the top five.
The FASTRAK Pro Late Models would bring the biggest field of the night as fifteen cars signed in. T.J. Salango was on a roll setting fast time and winning heat one. David Collins Jr. took heat two. This race would be caution filled and would go to time limit, but that did not stop Salango from putting on a dominating performance. He led it from green to checker taking the win. Collins Jr. would run second. Joe Cox who started in fourteenth position would work his way up to finish third with the tenth place starter Ashley Brewster taking fourth. David Collins Sr. who had to go to the tail early in the event when running third would work his way back and finish fifth.
Six Outlaw Modified Streets signed in as the class is slowly getting a larger and more consistent car count. David Ferreira would take the heat race win in dominating fashion as well as the feature win. The battle was for second through fifth. Cody Lowe in his second week in his new ride would come home second and at the end of the event was running some laps faster then Ferreira. Jessy Roberts who ran a very respectable race came home third. Freddy Mooney who had problems all night still placed fourth with Charlie Johnson who is working out the kinks ina new car rounding out the top five.
The street stock race was one of the more exciting of the night. There were ten cars who signed in for the nights events. Hank Stover took heat one and Brandon Adkins took heat two. Adkins took the early lead in the feature, but Stover would work his way back around him after they battled for multiple laps to take the lead and the win. Adkins came home second. George Pierce took third with Timmy McBride coming in fourth. Robert Modley II who had a strong early run ended up fifth.
The Outlaw Minis had another great show! Eight Cars signed in for the night. Jeremy Finley took the heat race and as cars fell out in the feature easily won the feature as well. Cody Neal who ran his fastest lap ever tonight came home in second with Teddy Richardson taking third. Shania Bradford looked to have motor problems, but still placed fourth with Kevin Davidson rounding out the top five.
The Mini Wedges were the best show of the night by far. Six cars again signed in. Max Price started shotgun on the field and worked his way through to make a last lap pass for the win. Logan Brant who displayed excellent sportsmanship shaking Price’s hand after the race took second. “No Brake” Blake Basham brought home third with Logan Collins taking fourth. Degan Williams took fifth with Trent Salango rounding out the field in sixth.
Princeton Speedway would like to thank all of the fans, drivers, teams, and sponsors that make racing possible each week! The next event will be the Super Late Models 2nd Annual West Virginia Dirt Cup this Saturday August 29th! Gates will open at 3 with racing at 7!
