Downes Racing Mini Stock Special This Week At Raceway 7

Conneaut, OH (June 10, 2015): The Mini-Stocks will take center stage this Friday as Downes Racing will be presenting a special event for the Specialty Products Mini Stocks that will pay $400 to win. The class of front-wheel drive four and six cylinder stock cars has had some of the best racing on the track for years with most of the field capable of winning on any given night. Among the favorites to win this event will be defending champion Dale Fraschetti, already a double winner this season, 2013 champion Brad Cole, also a winner in 2015, 2012 champion Bud Sergeff, last week’s winner, Hoyt Mihalak, opening night winner, Casey Harmon, week two winner, Jason Easler, Mitch Stokes, Carlos Aponte, and several others. Cole is the current points leader over Fraschetti, Easler, Stokes, and Sergeff.

Chad Wright, a former class champion, has already racked up four feature wins in the Evergreen Lake Park Campground RUSH Crate Late Models in only six weeks of racing. Bob Pifer and Dennis Lunger have each scored one win. Wright leads Lunger, the 2009 champion, and defending champion Kyle Zimmerman in the points race.

2009 champion Percy McDonald leads the Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods points chase with two feature wins this season, those coming in the first two weeks of racing. Second running Ken Zimmer also has two wins this season with Brent Rhebergen having one win and holding third in the standings. Justin Carlson is the most recent winner in the class, that win coming in his only appearance of this season.

With two wins on the season, Shaun Fawcett holds the lead in the Campbell’s Mini-Storage Street Stocks points chase over Brandon Groters, a three time winner. Former champion Chris Withers is currently third but has not yet entered Victory Lane this season. Rusty Martz is the other winner this season, that coming last week in the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series event.

Veteran Rick Prosser holds the Bonnell’s Auto Sales Economods points lead on the strength of one feature win by an impressive 84-point margin over Russ Kapalin, winless so far. Two-time winner and defending champion Josh Ferry is third after a string of mechanical misfortunes in recent weeks. Other winners are Brandon Blackshear, last week, and Jace Ferringer with two wins.

Weather permitting, gates open every Friday at 5:30 PM with pill draw cut off at 7 PM and racing at 7:30 PM. VIP suites are available for rental for $250 a night which includes eight general admissions passes. Admission is set for $10 for adults for this event, kids 7-14 are $5.
