Wayne County’s 50th Season Ready For The Rumble Of Engines

UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Tour and the brand new class of Harriger Towing Rush Crate Late Models will start the 50th season of racing at Wayne County Speedway this Saturday, April 18th. Gates will open at 3 pm with Hot laps at 6 pm and racing starts at 7 pm.
Opening night winner for the All Stars, Ryan Smith will lead expected drivers Dave Blaney, the defending series champion, Tim Shaffer, Greg Wilson, Danny Holtgraver, Danny Smith and two time WCS Champion, Chad Kemenah to name just a few of the All Star regulars . Another two time WCS champion and second place finisher on opening night for the All Stars will be track record holder Andrew Palker. Dean and Lee Jacobs along with Jac and Sheldon Haudenschild are home track favorites as Lee and Sheldon posted wins last season at the Orrville speedplant while Dean and Jac used the track to learn their driving skills All four of them will spend most of their season on the All Star Circuit which has four stops scheduled at WCS. Then you add in last years WCS track champ, Brad Haudenschild along with the weekly drivers of Danny Mumaw, Nick Patterson, Mitch and Jordan Harble and Troy Kingan, all who have already raced or practiced this season, it should be interesting night of racing for the All Stars at Wayne County Speedway.
The Harriger Towing Rush Crate Late Models will make their debut on Saturday Night with a big local favor of drivers committing to the new class. Defending Super Late Model champ Ryan Markham along with Charlie Duncan, Brandon Gardner, Justin Chance, who was running a crate motor the last part of last season, Hiriam Bachman and Paul Harriger all are ready to go for opening night. Throw in Jeremy Wrightsman from Cortland, Ohio and a group of Northeast Ohio and Western PA drivers who were at meetings during the off season saying they will be racing this season at WCS. Not only will they be racing for points at WCS but will compete for the Rush Sweeney Chevrolet Weekly Series that will have the drivers taking their best 15 finishes for the season, 2 per weekend from March to September that will pay the winner $5,000. The Rush Sweeney Chevrolet Touring Series will invade WCS on Monday, June 22 ( Sprint Speedweek), Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, September 6th. Regular race action for the Fisher Performance Sprints, the Lias Tire Super Late Models, the Aamco Transmission Super Stocks, the Harriger Towing Crate Late Models, the WQKT Mini Stocks, the Mini Wedges and the Flat Track Carts will begin on Saturday, April 25th.
