Fans Treated To A Show On Fan Appreciation Night At Brushcreek
3 min read(Peebles, OH) Last Saturday at the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex fans were shown their appreciation by track officials in the form of a discount. Not only a discount but the entire carload of fans got in for only $10! The fans were already happy before they seen the first exciting lap turned on track. A perfect day turned into a perfect night as the cars readied for action. The Southern Ohio Lighting Mini-Sprints were in the house with Chris Smalley taking the win.
As heat race action clicked off the decide the Feature starting orders things got rough for the C12 of Cole DeMint. The young driver of Peebles was battling in his Legend Car during heat race 2 when he got two wheels over the back stretch banking. DeMint tried to pull out of it but his car tuned sideways and started to tumble. The C12 machine rolled several times and landed on its wheels. Cole was unconscious as safety officials reached the car. Once he awoke he complained of back pains so the EMS and Track Crew worked together to get him out of the car. Cole was taken to the hospital and we are glad to report that his is very sore but will be fine.
After the heart stopping moments in the closing heat races, it was time for the Crazy Compacts to hit the track for their feature event. Stacy Evans and Randy Johnson lead them to the start. When the flagged waived Evans jumped out quick but the third place starter, Keith Anderson, was close behind. Anderson and Evans battled back and forth the entire race, even once getting into each other in a big way during a Caution flag miscommunication. The heated battle came down to a last lap pass by Stacy Evans for the win! Tommy Stout, Keith Anderson, Kevin Howell and Greg Anderson rounded out the top 5 finishers.
The Hidden Gem Web Designs Sport Mods rolled out next. It was a show of the young guns as 15 Year Old Tyler Smith and 9 Year Old Harrison Hall battled it out early in the race. After a jumping the restart Harrison was put back one spot behind Derek Richmond. Things looked to be smooth sailing for Tyler Smith until he got tangled up with a lap car. Smith got his spot back and with a torn up race car drove on to victory lane! Following Smith across the line was Derek Richmond, Harrison Hall, Jerry Florence JR and Dwayne Hurley.
The Modified division came out following the Sport Mods with Dave Jamison and Dave Warnock leading them. Dave Jamison picked up another win in 2014 to add to his growing list. Following him was Dave Warnock, Jason Bilyeu, Dakota Mayabb and Tommy Stout.
Tommy Stout and Jerren Perdue lead the field to the green in the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Cars. Jerren Perdue looked to have another easy win until Tom Partin started nearly rubbing the paint off of Perdue’s bumper. The 15 lap feature event went green all the way and Partin filled Perdue’s mirror up the entire time. Finally Tom Partin know it was time to try and make the pass on the final lap. Partin drove hard into the corner and lost the car and several spots. Jerren Perdue continued his dominance with John Gutman, Derek Minshew, Steven Partin, and Josh Francis rounding out the top 5.
