(New Castle, PA) It has been almost eight months since the idea of a stock car series was presented to Shaun Hooks and since that time he has spent many hours organizing, selling and preparing for the first race, scheduled for Saturday May 31st at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. “When it was first suggested to me to have a series for this class, I thought it was a good idea, but I never thought it would develop this quickly and it would have this much support” stated Hooks “As a competitor in the series, I am very excited about the opportunity to race for this extra money and prizes. As the director, I am simply amazed at the level of support the racers, sponsors and tracks have shown.” Not only is the race at PPMS the first for the series, it is the biggest races of the year for the stock car class, the 3rd annual Ed Laboon Memorial 20, paying $2,000 to win, and $200 to make the race. “Ed’s son Vince wanted to be part of the series and I am real happy that this is our first event, it’s a great way to come out of the gate.”

In addition to the rich purse, there are several awards for any series drivers including extra cash for the top 5 finishers who have registered for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series and paid their registration fees. The top finisher, registered will receive a $200.00 bonus followed by $100, $75, $50, and $25 sponsored by Schwartzmiller Ground Maintenance (SGM).
