George Kowatic and Marty Spade visit the winner’s circle on Sunday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex as part of the 410 Sprint Car program.
The High Gear Speed Shop RUSH Crate Late Models were 21 cars strong on Sunday evening. George Kowatic won his heat race and drew the straight-up start pill which played in his favor. Kowatic battled for most of the race with his Bobby Lake Motorsports teammate Michael Lake for the top spot. The two drivers never touched as they raced lap after lap. Rick Singleton (Saturday night’s winner) was sitting in third spot waiting for the two teammates to tangle but it didn’t happen. Kowatic led all 20 laps holding off Lake at the checkered flag. Singleton was third followed by John Over and Nico Dabecco. The three heat wins went to Kowatic, Over, and Lake.
Marty Spade of Farmington, PA, picked up his first Hoosier Tire Street Stock win of 2014. Spade pulled away from the field for the final few circuits making the race for second place the one to watch. Second through fifth – Bob Nelson, Jim Byers, Michael Duritsky, and Joe Kelley all battled hard as the race came to a close. Heat winners were Greg Hauger and Byers.
