WHEELERSBURG, OH-The Southern Ohio Speedway has been forced to cancel the 19th Annual Southern 100 scheduled for Friday, May 2nd. The race has been rescheduled for Friday night, June 20th.

Track officials worked the racing surface for several hours but the track was still dangerously soft and most importantly, a steady stream of water running out of the hill in turn one and off of turn 4 kept putting water back on the racing surface in several spots. Track officials worked to stop the water but it was to no avail. Water is still gushing out of the hill side from the 4.5 inches of rain that has fallen since Monday morning. It is impossible to race with water running across the track. The water was running across the track in the worst possible places to make things worse.

“Words can’t even describe how disappointing this is to have to cancel”, stated SOS co-promoter T. J. Layne. “We felt like we would be able to get it in as the grounds were drying, but the water in those spots just would not stop running. In four years down there, we have never had water running out like that in so many spots and have the water just keep gushing out like that. Driver safety is number one and there is just no way we would put our drivers out on the track under those conditions.”

The 19th Annual Southern 100 has been rescheduled for Friday, June 20th. The racing card will remain the same with Super Late Models-$10,000 to win, Modifieds-$1,000 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods-$500 to win, and a $300 to win Enduro at the end of the night. SOS is off next Friday but will return to action on Friday, May 16th with OVSCA 410 Sprints, WRS Late Models paying $1,000 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, and Enduros.
