Jason Jameson Wins Defrost 40 At Moler
3 min readNight #2 of the season at Moler Raceway Park featured the theDRC.net Defrost 40 lap feature event for the Mt. Orab Ford Late Models. Following heat race wins by Fayetteville, Ohio’s Mike Meyers and Middletown’s John Whitney the feature lineup was set. At the drop of the green flag it was Meyers out front as Whitney got sideways in turn #1 and lost 3 spots. By lap #2 Lawrenceburg, Indiana’s Jason Jameson had worked his way around Chris Shannon for 2nd spot and was chasing down Meyers. It would be lap 13 before Jameson would battle past Meyers and take over the top spot and set sail. Two laps later it was Chad Stapleton working into second place but there was no stopping Jason Jameson in his Bert Transmission, Terry Lanigan Excavating, Club 29 car. Stapleton would come home second with Meyers, Whitney , and Tim Prince completing the top 5 positions in the green to checker feature event.
Event #2 of the night belonged to the drc.net crazy compacts who were doing battle for $500. With 23 cars on hand there was lots of good racing all night long in this division. In preliminary action it was Curt Daniels, Ryan Eversole, and Dillan Harris taking heat race victories. In the feature event it was Eversole out front early with last week’s feature winner Bubba Gibson pressuring through the numerous early caution periods that slowed the race. A caution on lap #11 would see Gibson pull pitside leaving Rex Smith to battle for the top spot. Eversole would stay out front and despite a massive slide job attempt by Smith on the final corner would hold on and claim his first ever win at MRP. Smith would come home second with Tony Reed, Jason Brogenmenke (from 20th starting spot), and Willie Butler rounding out the top five spots.
In the UMP Modified division it was an emotional victory lane as Adam Stricker would claim his first win at MRP in his family owned Stricker Auto Parts, Lightning Chassis machine. The 3rd generation driver jumped to the lead from his outside pole starting spot and led the entire way to claim the victory. Dave McWilliams would charge from 10th starting spot to finish 2nd with Jimmy Lennex, Dave Jamison, and Alex Brunner completing the top 5 positions. Jamison and Stricker won heat races.
In the Chevette Division it was once again Rusty Yarger in the Weaver’s Garage, Wilson Body Shop, Northwest Transmission sponsored machine claiming the feature win. The battle behind him was furious as Sean Jones, Jeff Watson, and Josh Francis battle side by side most of the way with Watson coming home in second spot with Jones, Francis, and Kyle Tarvin completing the top five. Yarger and Francis were heat race winners.
In the Diamond Cut Lawn Care Sport Mods it was Chris Shelton taking the win over his mother Jowanna Shelton. Chris was also victorious in the heat race.
In the Diamond Cut Lawn Care Dash events for non winners it was Dave Jamison winning the modified division with Mike Clark claiming the win in the Chevette Division.
