WHEELERSBURG, OH-Following a postponement of the 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro on March 8th, the Southern Ohio Speedway is ready for attempt #2 on the event on Saturday, March 15th. A late winter storm that hit last week made grounds to wet to host the event on the 8th. SOS officials remain optimistic that grounds will be good enough to race on March 15th.

The 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro will feature a full racing program for the always wild and exciting Enduro class. The event will kick off with hot laps followed by the exciting Time Trial Challenge. The Time Trial Challenge will feature the most unique time trials that you will probably ever see. Cars will complete one lap around the track the correct direction, then as they come to get the white flag will turn around a cone set in the middle of the frontstretch and make one lap around the track the opposite direction. The total time of the two laps will count as the competitors time trial. The winner of the time trial challenge will receive $25.

Following the Time Trial Challenge we will move into the racing portion of the event. The top six fastest qualifiers will be inverted and run a 4 lap Dash for Cash. The winner will receive $25. The rest of the field will compete in one of three six lap heat races. After heat races we will run “The Main Event.” In “The Main Event”, all cars will run in a 30 minute endurance segment. Cars that are left after that segment and maintained reasonable speed during the 30 minutes and did not stay stopped for more than 1 minute, will be eligible to compete in the 10 lap championship race for $250 to win. The 10 lap championship race will line up with the dash finish being the first three rows and heat race winners starting behind them. All starts and restarts in the entire event will be standing starts in rows of two.

The 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro will be the first of four “thrill shows” at SOS in 2014. The last big Enduro event at SOS was back last November for the “2nd Annual Fall Havoc Enduro.” That race saw a record number of 38 Enduro entries. Brad Miller escaped a near miss with the outside guardrail to win the Fall Havoc Enduro back in November. Another large turnout is expected in the 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro on March 15th.

Gates will open on March 15th at noon with hot laps starting the action at 2:00 pm. General admission is only $5 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. Pit passes are only $10 for ages 7 and up and FREE for ages 6 and under. Each Enduro car will also have to pay a $20 entry fee. For more information visit www.southernohiospeedway.com.
