$2000 To Win Hotmod Workin’ Man’s World Championship Announced
5 min read(Middlebourne, WV) Officials of the Eastern Dirt Grassroots Entertainment company announced today of its huge plans to reward racers inside the EDGE Hotmod division. The EDGE Hotmod division was founded upon the basic principles of affordability for its racers; an inexpensive option for the blue collar hard working men and woman in motorsports. In 2008, the need arose for a class that addressed the concerns of racers feeling the direct effect of a financially challenging economy. The gathering of local members of various motorsports entities established the blueprints for the Hotmods, a class forged with low-cost alternatives. The result was a class predicated on common sense rules dedicated to safety, economical car construction standards and close competition.Through five seasons the class has witnessed four different champions, over sixty registered members, has hosted a race at six different venues, and is a regular division on both the Tyler County Speedway and Legendary Hilltop Speedway season schedules.
Therefore, in an effort to continue its powerful stance on supporting the working man and the Hotmod divisions development, the EDGE is pleased to announce the Inaugural “Workin’ Mans World Championship” set for September 19th, 2014. The event will more than double the largest purse in EDGE Hotmod history with the winners share paying an impressive $2,000 dollars to win while all event starters will be guaranteed $150 dollars. The 2014 season finale shatters all expectations in rewarding EDGE Hotmod racers for their support and hard work during the season as over $6,000 dollars in cash purse will be up for grabs for the eighteen car minimum starting field. The inaugural winner will also earn the title as the 2014 EDGE Hotmod “World Champion” and be featured in the industry leading Dirt Modified Magazine.
There are several ways that EDGE Hotmod competitors can guarantee their starting spot in the “Workin’ Mans World Championship” in 2014. An estimated six to eight “World Championship Qualifiers” will be held throughout the year with a pair at Legendary Hilltop Speedway, Tyler County Speedway, and Ohio Valley Speedway in the works. Any driver that wins a qualifier will earn an AUTOMATIC bid into the World Championship race. Points will be kept during all “World Championship Qualifiers”, the top three individuals highest in points that are not already locked in will also receive an AUTOMATIC spot in the EDGE Hotmod “Workin’ Mans World Championship” on Sept. 19th. The remaining EDGE Hotmod racers who have not yet earned a spot in the A-Main and meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to participate in the complete night of events which will include Heat Races, (lined up based on points from ‘World Championship Qualifier’ standings) and a last chance showdown to round out the remaining field for the Inaugural and history making “Workin’ Mans World Championship.”
In addition to the above possibilities to earn a starting position, racers who participate in at least twenty EDGE Hotmod events in 2014 will also be guaranteed a provisional spot in the race. EDGE officials want to reiterate that racers who compete in all of the qualifiers will ultimately have the best shot at earning a spot in the race, however, all others, including any new comers in the division throughout the season should be made aware that it is possible to race your way in during championship weekend even if you missed the qualifiers.
“The qualifier races being held should be very competitive as well as providing a great measuring stick for the racers. I’ve never seen a true racer who doesn’t want to see how he stacks up against his peers. With these qualifiers being held at distinctly different but also centrally located tracks, it’s going to challenge the driver’s and team’s skill at adapting to bring their ‘A game’. I really believe it’s going to make for a great experience and exposure for the Hotmod racers. We wanted to create an event that builds throughout the year, that race teams earn their way into, an event the division could be proud of, and the steady, continual growth of this class justifies it” stated director Cody Watson.
“The event is appropriately titled for the men and women of the division, the ones who roll up their sleeves and work hard each week to be able to spend the weekend at the track” added Watson. “We wanted to financially reward our drivers for their year long commitment, and this outstanding purse should do just that” concluded Watson.
