Duncan Wins 1st Ever All Star Feature at WCS

Lockbourne’s Cole Duncan took the lead with two laps to go after race long leader Jac Haudenschild blew a tire in the 30 lap UNOH All Star Sprint feature at NAPA Wayne County Speedway Sunday evening. It was Duncan’s first ever UNOH All Star win as Dean Jacobs edged out NAPA WCS track champion, Andrew Palker, on the last lap for second with Tim Shaffer, who was fresh off back to back wins at Attica on Friday and Saturday taking fourth as Rob Chaney filled out the top five. Heat winners were Danny Holtgraver, Chaney, Greg Wilson, and Danny Mumaw while Brad Haudenschild pocketed the last chance win. For the complete results, go to www.allstarsprint.com

The front row of Millersburg’s Keith Berner and Ryan Markham would run side by side for opening 13 laps of the Lias Tire Late Model main, swapping the lead several times before Berner and his Village Motors, Bud’s Place and Massillon Transmission #18 started to pull away from Markham as they began to encounter lapped traffic. With Berner expanding his lead on each lap and head for victory lane for the second time this season, Markham would have to stave off fast quailifier Shane McLoughlin for second in the closing laps as George Lee worked his way from starting 11th to finish fourth as Brad Malcuit squeezed past Dave Hornikel at the finish line for fifth. Markham, Berner and Charlie Maloney scored heat race wins while Kristin Flory drove her car for the first time this year and claimed the last chance win.

The Thrifty Muffler Super Stock feature saw second heat winner Brandon Gardner grab the lead from his pole position with outside front row starter Larry Baldwin in tow and they would run that way for the first eight laps when Gardner suddenly went pitside, giving up the point to first heat winner Baldwin. The Medina driver and his Midas, Medina Mountain Motors and Baldwin Motorsports #7up would only be challenged on the last lap following a caution flag but Matt Shroyer could not make a run for the lead on the restart as Baldwin posted his fourth win of the season. Chase Alexander would finish third as Mitch Caskey grabbed fourth from his tenth starting spot with Nick Smith filling out the top five.

The final racing action for NAPA WCS will come up on Friday and Saturday September 20th and 21st for the two day Blow Out. All six regular divisions plus the Trucks (Hilltop rules) will be in action with the Mini Wedges just racing on Saturday. Full details will be out this week for that week end.
