STRONGSTOWN, PA (May 22, 2022) – It was a night filled with special races at Dog Hollow Speedway. Chub Frank, of Bear Lake, took home $3100 for his winning effort in the Subway of Downtown Clearfield Super Late Models. Dylan Young came home the big winner in the $700 to win Shirley Southern Memorial for the Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders. The Schaeffer’s Oil Products RUSH Stock Cars/Pure Stocks saw St. Mary’s Tim Steis grab the $800 winners check while Gale Ruth Jr. made it three straight in the $600 to win RUSH Wingless Sprint Cars.
The 20-lap Schaeffer’s Oil Products RUSH Stock Cars/Pure Stock feature was first on the speedway. The drop of the green saw pole sitter Tim Steis take command. He was chased by Chris Hickok the first ten laps. Anthony Monteparte fell back to fourth but patiently worked his way into the second spot on lap eleven. Monteparte stayed within striking distance but couldn’t quite muster the extra power needed to get around the high-flying Steis. Monteparte followed Steis across the line for second over Hickok, Sam McAdams, Bob Torquato, Tim Laughard, John Eckenrod, Bill Schramm, and Dave Gacka. Heat races were won by Steis and Hickok. Sam McAdams won the $100 Hard Charger Award, courtesy of Contender Chassis, going from 12th to 4th.
Next up was the ground-pounding Subway of Downtown Clearfield Super Late Models for their 30-lap feature. Chub Frank wasted little time taking the lead at the start. Jon Lee took up the chase followed by Joe Petyak. Lux then took third before John Wayne Weaver got by, Frank set the pace as Lee tried to close in. Frank and Lee pulled away from the pack. Lee gave it his all trying to stay glued to Frank but could not muster the power to get around and settled for second place. Frank took home $3100 for his winning effort which included $100 for Fast Time Qualifying, presented by Bobby Lake Motorsports, Weaver was third over Michael Lake, Matt Lux, Andy Boozel, Alex Ferree, Del Rougeux, Gale Huey, and Andy Burns. The Inaugural Shirley Southern Memorial for the Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders rounded out the night. The 20-lap race paid $700 to the winner and it was Dylan Young, winning for his grandmother. Adam Pletcher grabbed the lead as the green flag flew, Pletcher started to run away with it as Phillipson, Dylan Young, Cody Young, and Ashton Daughenbaugh staged a battle royal. Daughenbaugh appeared to be the fastest car and every time he tried for second place he drifted high before finally breaking. Meanwhile, Phillipson was holding up his nephews as they tried to get around him. A yellow flag flew on lap fourteen.
On the restart, Dylan Young took up the chase of Pletcher. Contact sent Pletcher to the pits and Dylan Young was the new leader. A three-car battle between Dylan Young, Cody Young, and Noah Swank, who came from the tail after being late to the lineup. The checkered flag waved with Dylan Young taking home the big winner’s check, in honor of his grandmother. Cody Young was second ahead of Noah Swank, Raymond Dallape, Todd Davis, Bill Eckenrode, Adam Pletcher, Matt Knight, Mike Phillipson, and Matt Keisel. Taking the qualifying heats were Pletcher, Quinten Beeman, and Phillipson. The $100 JHI Hard Charger Award went to Todd Davis who started 13th and finished 5th,
