Anthony Monteparte Takes Latrobe Pure Stock Special
5 min readThe 3rd Annual Joe’s Body and Towing Pure Stock Spectacular is in the books. Anthony Monteparte takes his 2nd win of the Joe’s Body and Towing 20 Laps $2,000 to win.
With only 6 Big Block Modified’s showing up to the Big Half Mile they still put on a great show. Was exciting from the green flag to the Checked Flag. The 83 of Brian Swartzlander gets back to back wins. The 418 of Tyler Laughard runs down the 24 of Tiffani McElhose after the young female driver lead the 1st 5 Laps. After a very rough start with the Pro Stocks the 4 of Brett Hutira pulls out his 2nd win of the Season. In the Crate Late Models the 90j of Micheal Duritsky gets another win at Latrobe.
Pro Stocks got to start in the number 1 position on this warm summer night. With a black cloud hanging over a few teams we only saw 4 Pro Stocks enter the Event. The 66 of Joe Kelley started in P1 with the 4 of Brett Hutira to his outside. Right away the black cloud swallowed up the 66 of Kelley with a broken drive shaft. On the restart the 4 of Hutira and the 47 of Kraisinger battled for the top spot with the 4 of Hutira collecting his 2nd win of the season. 1st 4 Brett Hutira 2nd 47 Cam Kraisinger 3rd Jacob Weyer 4th 66 Joe Kelley. Heat Winner 66 Kelley.
In the Number 2 Spot the 4 Cylinders Rocked the Speedway. The 39 of Brian Noel started in P1 with the 24 of Tiffani McElhose to his outside. The young gun 24 McElhose was the drag race to the first turn. The 24 of McElhose lead the first 5 laps until a slight mistake in turn 2 when the 418 of Tyler Laughard took over the lead spot and never looked back. After a heart break last week while in the lead spot the 418 of Laughard suffered a break in his car sending him to the pits. A three way battle then ensued with the 24 of McElhose, 66 of Dale Grubbs and the 210 of Dylan Burkett all running hard for the 2nd position, the 66 of Grubbs and the 210 of Burkett both took their best shots to get around the 24 of McElhose but at the Checkers it was the 24 of McElhose in 2nd. For the second time this season the 4 Cyl division went green, white, Checkerd. Awesome job to ALL the 4 Cyl. Taking the track in the prime position For the 3rd Annual Joe’s Body and Towing 20 laps $2,000 to win. In the pole position the 969 of Steven Hazlett with the 81 of John Hollis to his outside. As they came down to the Green Flag of Carson the 969 of Hazlet won the ensuing battle to the first turn. After leading the first 5 laps the 969 spun out between turn 1 and 2 putting him to the back of the field. After a few restarts the 100 of Monteparte found his way to the front of the field. The young rookie 22f Corey Ferris showed the 100 of Monteparte his front wheel a few times but the 100 of Monteparte held on for his 2nd Joe’s Body and Towing Win. In the Fourth Spot, Latrobe’s Own Crate Late Models. Sitting in P1 the 90j of Micheal Duritsky to his outside the 28H of Clate Copeman. After a rough time getting the race started the 90j of Duritsky went to work. Behind Duritsky the 21M of Micheal Ott moved up from starting P5 to finishing 2nd and K2 of John over started in P7 and finished 3rd. Final Division of the Night The Earth Pounding Big Block Modified. With only 6 Cars entering the Feature once these guys got going it sounded like a Whole Field of Big Blocks. Those 6 Drivers did not Disappoint the Crowd at the Speedway. What and awesome sound as they roll down the front shoot, fans could feel the power in their chest. As the Race Started it did not take very many Laps for the 83 of Brian Swartzlander to find himself from last to first with the 5th starting car the 4j of John Mollick following the 83 through the field into the second position. With a 20 lap feature it did not take these guys long to knock those laps down. 1st Brian Swartzlander 2nd 4j John Mollick 3rd 45 Steve Feder 4th 35 Steve Slater 5th 22 Kevin Long 6th 71 Randy Chronister. Heat Winner 83 Swartzlander. We will see the Big Blocks 3 more times this year. The series Tour BRP with be with us Sept 11th with a huge Fireworks show presented by Here Comes The Boom. Then Big Blocks will be back Sept 25 then during Fall Fest.
This coming Weekend at Latrobe Speedway. DJS SWAG will host the Pro Stock Challenge 20 Laps $1,500 to win. Also the Ground Pounding Vintage Modified will make their second Appearance of 2021. As always on the card Crate Late Model, Pure Stock and the 4Cyl.
