Justin Clark Wins 305 Sprint Special At Dog Hollow
4 min readSTRONGSTOWN, PA (July 9, 2021) – Hamersville, OH’s Justin Clark made his first Dog Hollow visit memorable winning the 20-lap Laurel Highlands Racesaver 305 Sprint feature. Chad McClellan returned to DHS victory lane for the first time since 2015 in the MCS Super Late Models. This made six winners in six races for the Super Lates. Jeremy Zufall made it three straight wins in the AMSOIL/Ron’s Collision Center RUSH Stock Cars while Joe Martin won his third Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Model checker. Mike Phillipson became the first repeat winner in the Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinder division.
The AMSOIL/Ron’s Collision Center RUSH Stock Cars were first up for their 15-lap event. Jeremy Zufall led all 15 laps with Bob Torqusto in close tow to win his fourth feature win overall. Torquato won the lone heat.
The Townsend Gas & Oil RUSH Late Models saw Punxy’s Joe Martin jump into the lead as the green was thrown. Martin had Noah Brunell on his back bumper the first five laps. Michael Duritsky got by on lap six and took up chase on Martin. Martin held on through two cautions to score his third win of the season. Duritsky was second over Joe Moyer (who came from the tail after a spin), Noah Brunell, Greg Carrico, Ben Scott, Mark Rend, Tim Snare and Chad McClellan. Brunell won the heat.
Justin Clark used his outside front row starting spot to quickly grabbed the lead in the 20-lap Laurel Highlands Racesaver 305 Sprint feature. Steve Kenawell, Jr. moved in to second on lap two and chased Clark down. The high flying duo put on a battle for the fans. Kenawell appeared to be faster and looked ready to make a move when the caution flew on lap 15. On the restart Clark took off and Kenawell slipped back to third giving up second to Derek Hauck. Hauck ran out of time as Clark crossed under the checker first for the win. Hauck was second followed by Kenawell, Rob Felix, Ryan Lynn, Dylan Schatzer, Stephen Cousins, Greg Dobrosky, Jim Morris and Roger Irvine. Heat winners were Monty Ferriera, Derek Hauck and Tommy Jasen with Scott Lutz winning the B-Main. Stephen Cousins picked up a $100 for the Hard Charger of the race from Smith Transportation.
Stoystown’s Chad McClellan took off like a rocket at the start of the 25-lap MCS Super Late Model feature. John Wayne Weaver was second and had a solid run going. McClellan ran away from the field until the caution flew on lap ten. When the green re-appeared McClellan sped off with eighth starter Colton Flinner getting around Weaver. Flinner, making his first-ever start at Dog Hollow, kept McClellan in sight but was never able to mount a challenge and settled for second at the finish. Michael Lake was third over Dave Blazavich, John Wayne Weaver, Billy Eash, Del Rougeux, Mike Laughard and Ryan Christoff. Weaver won the heat.
The 12-lap Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinder feature saw Ebensburg driver Mike Phillipson leading the way over Anthony Varner. Cody Young got around Varner on lap four and took up the chase. Varner went over turn three and ended his good run on lap seven. Phillipson kept the lead as the race went back to green with Young in pursuit. Phillipson held on to become the first repeat winner in the division. Young was second followed by Rob Williams, Tyler Laughard, Ray Dallape, Ashton Daughenbaugh, Tim Baker, Mike Sinclair, Cruz Daughenbaugh and Todd Davis. Heat race winners were Phillipson, Varner and Daughenbaugh.
