On a very cool Saturday evening, the action on the track warmed everyone up in all four class’ beginning with the Pine Tree Towing & Recovery Sprints going after the first of four ‘King of the County challenge races. Driving the Bill Morrison owned #0, Trey Jacobs would take his pole position starting place and grab the lead and set the pace with front row partner Jack Sodeman Jr. in his tire tracks. Third place Jordan Ryan would bring out the caution on lap four after smacking the turn one guardrail. This would put Brandon Spithaler in third with Dean Jacobs and Broc Martin following.. Trey Jacobs would build up almost a straightaway lead over the pack until Nate Reeser stopped in turn four to bring out the caution on lap 12. Dean Jacobs would take third from Sodeman Jr. on lap 13 and on the next circuit the red flag waved as Jason Dolick would spin in turn one with R J Jacobs spinning to avoid Dolick as Kyle Capodice made contact with the wall and R J and rolled over. He walked away ok, Trey Jacobs was once again able to pull away from the field on the restart but as he went down the backstretch on lap 21, he started to slow losing tire pressure and Spithaler would power past as Trey tried to keep going but stopping in turn two to bring out the yellow flag with two laps to go. It was Spithaler, Dean Jacobs, Martin, Chris Myers and Nate Dussel the top five when the race went back to green flag. Using the highest groove of the track in turn one and two Dean Jacobs would power past Spithaler coming out of turn two and take the lead and the Wooster driver and his Harbaugh Electronics, B & B Drain Service and McClure Racing #9 would pull away in the final lap for the win. Spithaler would hang on to second while Martin outdueled Myers for third and Dussel held on for fifth. Claiming the heat wins were Sodeman Jr., Ryan and Dean Jacobs while Jamie Myers topped the last chance race. Tyler Street picked up the Rich’s Tire & Service Center Hard Charger award by gaining nine positions.
Every time Matt Lux pulls into the Wayne County Speedway pits, the Franklin PA. driver is going to be up front vying for that elusive Malcuit Tavern Super Late Model win. This night he would break through as would take the outside front row starting place and out race Ryan Markham for the lead going into turn one and would never give it up. Opening night feature winner would be in Lux’s tire tracks from the get go as Markham fell back to third. A lap 2 caution for three cars in turn one would keep Caskey on the back bumper of Lux and when the green flew again. In four laps, the leaders were chasing down the back markers and on lap six, Lux would tap a slower car that allowed Caskey to get by but before they got back to the line to finish lap six, the caution would come out for a stopped Justin Chance. Trailing Lux and Caskey on the restart were Markham, Todd Brennan and Wes Morrison as those two had a battle going for fourth. Completing lap 11, Markham would tangle with a lapped car right at the flag stand as he whacked the wall and went skidding into the infield. Markham went to the pits to have his car checked out and returned but lasted only two circuits before pulling off. The action continued on for four more laps when Larry Bellman slowed on the track and just as the green flag was to wave from that, third place running Brennan stopped in turn three, ending his night. From that point on, the race would go green and Lux and his Rivers Edge, Jim’s Automotive and Strongland Construction #111 would pull away from Caskey for the win, Morrison would finish third for the second time this season as Bellman came back to take fourth while Jerry Aber filled out the top five. Bellman and Chance secured the heat wins as Phil Wade improved 7 places to take the Rich’s Tire & Sevice hard charger award.
Jimmy Humphrey and Luke Sprouse would start on the front row of McKenzie Concrete Super Stock feature with Sprouse taking the point for the opening two laps before giving way to Brandon Morrow A lap four caution for a spin slowed the action as third place running Tyler Wiles developed front end issues and pulled off. Morrow of Wooster, would open up a lead over Sprouse as Humphrey and Don Rutt battled for third, another slow down came on lap 8 as Colton Lehman breaks in turn one and opening night winner, Chase Alaexander’s front end broke ending both of their’s race. as Rutt took over second just before that. Two laps later Curt Zimmerman stops to bring out the yellow flag again. With the double file restart, Morrow and his Dan Weaver Trucking, Accu Force and Coblentz Trucking #c9 took the outside position with Rutt on the inside and Rutt made the challenge going into turn one and two but Morrow held him off and in the final laps opened up a gap to park in the Summit Racing victory circle. Rutt Held on to second as Humphrey out dueled Matt Shroyer for third with Brandon Craver rounded out the top five. Rutt and Tyler Wiles picked up the heat wins as Justin Lorentz was the Rich’s Tire & Service hard charger by improving 7 places.
After a couple of tries to get the JOYRIDE Transport Mini Stock main under way, it went green and pole sitter and opening night winner Johhny Bruce Sr would be out front with Jordan James in hot pursuit A lap nine caution flew when Cody Butzer lost a wheel and with the green flag waving again, James edged past Bruce Jr. for the lead and the Loudonville driver would hold off Bruce Jr. the last two laps and post his first win aboard the Ugly Duck Bar & Grill, Troutman’s Kutz & Kennels and Brad’s Auto Body #83. Travis Hutton, the Rich’s Tire & Service hard charger, passed Ryan Carder for third with two laps to go while Kyle Petit got Carder on the last lap for fourth as Carder was able to hang on to fifth. Winning the heats were Mitch Reichard and Petit.
