The GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars will also be highlighted with the “McGowan Race Parts 20″ paying the class $400 to win. OVSCA 410 Sprint Car Preview
410 Sprint Cars are the fastest machines in all of short track racing. With a weight of 1,350 pounds and close to 900 horsepower, 410 Sprints race at intense speeds with breathtaking side by side racing action. Last season the OVSCA 410 Sprints set a new track record with a lap time of 14.125 at an average speed of 114.69 mph. To compare, the Late Model track record is an average speed just over 102 mph and the Modified track record is an average speed of over 89 mph.
While the speeds are incredible, the racing action is just as intense. Last year’s OVSCA show at SOS saw an incredible battle between veteran Jimmy Stinson and 18 year old Kory Crabtree with Crabtree taking the big feature win. This season, Stinson currently leads the OVSCA point standings while Crabtree sits third. Former AMA Arenacross competitor Nathan Skaggs sits second in points while Dave Dickson is fourth and Josh Davis is fifth. All five of those competitors were at SOS last season and are expected to be top contenders heading into Friday’s show. When you talk 410 Sprints at SOS you also can’t forget about Jim Nier as he has several wins at the facility, including an OVSCA win in August of 2011. It is sure to be an incredible show on Friday.
GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars Preview
It is another huge night for the Sport Mods on Friday as they will battle for $400 to win and increased money through the field in the “McGowan Race Parts 20.” The last Sport Mod race was also a $400 to win special that saw Danny Hamilton take the big win over 25 Sport Mods that were in attendance. Mike Newton put up a strong battle with Hamilton and led several laps before becoming involved in an accident. Newton has a new car ready to go for Friday’s “McGowan Race Parts 20.” For more information on McGowan Race Parts visit www.mcgowanraceparts.com.
Modified Preview
Doug “The Buzzard” Adkins won a very exciting Modified feature the last race on May 24th. Adkins has been fast this year, claiming two feature wins and moving into second in points. Last year’s track champion Jeremy Rayburn finished second the last race and battled for the lead with Adkins all race long. Will Rayburn claim his first victory of 2013 on Friday? Can Adkins win his second feature in a row? How about 2011 track champion Adam Colley? Colley finished third last week and will be chasing his first win of 2013 on Friday. Should be another great show!
