Mark O’Donnell Memorial Ends ULMS Season Friday At Thunder Mountain
3 min readThe 2019 Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series will come to a close Friday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway for the Mark O’Donnell Memorial that will be paying $3013 to win in the 30 lap main event that will serve as the ULMS Championship night and also the final event of the ULMS mini series.
Max Blair has wrapped up the 2019 Zimmer Service Center ULMS title for the second straight year and the $10,000 championship prize. He will lead the Close Racing Supply ULMS Elite teams into Thunder Mountain looking for his eighth series win of the year and his first ever Thunder Mountain win. Blair is also leading the ULMS mini series (formerly Hell Tour) points by a slim margin over David Scott going into the final event. Joining Blair and Scott will be Michael Wonderling who has secured second place in the ULMS points and Jason Dobson who has also secured third place in the final point standings.
Defending their home turf will be newly crowned 2019 track champion, Chris Hackett of Jamestown, NY. Hackett made Thunder Mountain his Friday home track this past season and it paid off with the championship, dethroning Charlie Powell. Both drivers are expected to be on hand Friday night. Other local stars attending will be Gale Huey, Kyle Knapp, Curtis Teats, Matt Lux, Del Rougeux and Michael Lake will all be looking for wins. Only Lux and Hackett have previous ULMS wins in their past.
Other regional stars that will be on hand will be Mike Pegher Jr., who grabbed the track guaranteed starting spot with his win at Hummingbird on Friday night along with last Friday’s Thunder Mountain winner Dan Angelicchio and John Weaver who grabbed a win last Saturday at Hidden Valley.
Joining the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series will be the Semi late model and front wheel drive class. Pits open at 5pm with general admission opening at 530pm. General admission tickets are $17 with Senior price being $15. Student ticket prices are $12 and kids ages 6 and under are free with all pit passes being $30. Wristbands/rain tickets from the July 3rd rain out will be honored. ULMS entry fee is $40 and all teams that paid on July 3rd rain out and have not raced with ULMS since will have their entry fee waived due to already paying back on July 3rd.
ULMS registration will open at 5pm with ULMS tech opening at 530pm. ULMS Registration will end and driver meeting will be at 645pm with ULMS tech ending at 650pm. ULMS Hot Laps will begin shortly there after around 7:10PM with ULMS Integra Shock Qualifying tentatively schedule after opening ceremonies at 730pm.
