Hackett Scores First Win At Thunder Mountain

Knox Dale- Fans were treated to another night of racing that involved meeting their favorite drivers and picking up piles of candy. The first feature of the evening were the Super V6 Late Models. Curtis Stivason in the 36S and Mike Spinneweber in the 6 lead the field to the green flag. Frank McFeaters in the 1 would take the early lead before the 03 of Craig Cummings would slow with front end damage. On the restart, Mike Spinneweber moves into second over Curtis Stivason in the 36S. Spinneweber and Stivason would battle for a number of laps for second before Spinneweber held the position. With a straight away lead over the field, Frank McFeaters went on to win the Super V6 feature event. McFeaters was followed by 2) Mike Spinneweber 6 3) Curtis Stivason 36S 4)Nate Mechling 54 5) Ed Dunkel 34 6) Matt Cajka 12 7) Brett Moore 10 8) Jason Willard 18 9) Shane Spinneweber 14 10) Craig Cummings 03. The Watt Logging Pure Stocks came track side for the second round of features. Bill Mumau in the 871 and Rich Anderson in the 516 made up the front row for fifteen laps. Mumau would take the early lead before a pile up in turn two brought out the yellow flag. On the restart, Greg Blystone in the 629 moved into fifth as Anderson in the 516 pressures Mumau for the lead. Kylee Brown in the 99K, Greg Blystone, and Justin Watt in the 00 battled for third before Brown spins in turn two holding the third position. On the restart, Rich Anderson makes the pass over Mumau for the lead as Jenna Pfaff in the 33 moved into sixth over the 55X of Andy Frey. Greg Blystone in the 629 gets a good run coming out of turn two to move into the third position over Justin Watt and Dalton Gustafson in the 483. A lap later, the red flag came out for Kylee Brown who went up in a short ball of fire down the backstretch. Once red flag conditions lifted, the green came back out for Rich Anderson leading the field. Dalton Gustafson moved into third over Bill Mumau as Blystone pressures Anderson for the lead. With the white flag out, Anderson and Blystone continue to battle for the lead before Anderson went on to win the feature by a nose. Third for the evening were the FDR HVAC Street Stocks. The C8 of Bill Hurrellbrink and the 28 of Fuzzy Fields made up the front row to lead the field to the green. Hurrellbrink took the early lead as Zach Gustafson in the 983 took over third. Gustafson would then reel in the top two of Hurrellbrink and Fields to pressure them for the lead. The top there put on a dog fight for the lead as Tim Bish in the 11B reels in Fuzzy Fields for the third position. Gary Luzier in the 960 ran in fifth as Allen English in the 64 and Ray Hickok Jr in the 4ord ran sixth and seventh. Gustafson would then pressure Hurrelbrink for the lead as Fields battles Bish for third. A lap later, Gustafson takes the lead away from Hurrellbrink as Bish gets by him for the second place position. At the end, it was Zach Gustafson who went on to win his first Thunder Mountain victory of 2019. Gustafson was followed by 2) Tim Bish 11B 3) Bill Hurrellbrink C8 4) Fuzzy Fields 28 5) Gary Luzier 960 6) Allen English 64 7) Ray Hickok Jr 4ord 8) Bob Egley 30. The lone heat winner was Fuzzy Fields.
The Legends Powersports Super Late Models were trackside next for their feature. Chris Hackett in the 33 and Kyle Knapp in the 33K made up the front row to go green for twenty five laps. Knapp would take the early lead as Chris Hackett and Dave Blazavich in the 18B ran second and third. A few laps later, Matt Lux in the 111 would take fourth from Del Rougeux in the 28D as Blazavich and Hackett battled for second. Charlie Powell in the 94 and Gale Huey in the 11H battled for sixth before Powell took over the position. The yellow flag flew for Shawn Lindenmuth sitting in turn four. On the restart, Chris Hackett charges to the outside and takes the lead away from Kyle Knapp. Hackett stretched out his lead as Powell moved into fifth over Del Rouguex in the 28D. With eight laps to go, Dave Blazavich finds grip o the outside and started to reel in the top two. A few laps later, Blazavich passes Knapp for second out of turn four. At the end, it was Chris Hackett who went on to win his first ever Thunder Mountain feature event. Fifth for the evening were the Dunlap Lawn & Garden Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders. Jeff Huber in the 42 and Joe Huber in the 8H made up the front row for fifteen laps. Jeff Huber took the early lead as Rob Williams in the 9MM moved into second over Joe Huber. Sam Orf Jr in the 116 and Curtis Mohney in the 33M battled for fourth before Orf secured the position. Zach Frantz in the 36F and Bill Fuchs in the 10 battled for fifth before Frantz slows on the backstretch. Rob Williams gets caught up with the lap car of Dana Huber who bot went off turn two. On the restart, Williams moves into second as Joe Huber moves into third over Sam Orf Jr. At the end, it was Jeff Huber who went on to continue his winning streak. Last for the evening were the Kinetic By Windstream Semi Late Models. Jeremy Ohl in the 5J and Zach Myers in the 1M made up the front row for twenty laps. Myers would take the early lead before the caution came out for debris on the backstretch. On the restart, Gabe Shaffer in the 28 and Jeremy Ohl battle for second before Shaffer took over the second position. Ohl, Jon Lee in the 5L, and Jarid Ivory in the 17 battled for third as Doug Surra moved into fourth over Jeff Sweeney in the 222. The caution flag then flew for the 39B of Joe Becker who spun in turn two. On the restart, Ohl and Surra collide in turn two. The second restart seen Rich Wicker in the 2T and Jon Lee battle for sixth before Lee secured the position. Jeff Sweeney and Lee would then battle for fourth before Lee took over the fourth position as well. Scott Umbaugh in the 36 spins in turn two to bring out the caution. On the restart, Gabe Shaffer, Jarid Ivory, and Jon Lee all battle for second before Shaffer pulls away to stay in the second position. With a straight away lead, Zach Myers in the 1M went on to pick up the Semi Late Model feature event.
