Five-Star Racing At Raceway 7 This Friday
3 min readConneaut, OH (August 6, 2019) — With only four weeks of racing left to decide champions, racing will be intense as drivers jockey for the best finish possible. While the Evergreen Lake Park Campground RUSH Late Model, Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stocks, and the Sunnyside Farm Transit Mini Stock points championship APPEAR to be run-a-ways, anything can happen in racing and the leaders must be vigilant in car preparation and observant of competition every lap of every event. The Bonnell’s Collision Center E-Mods and Bonnell’s Auto Sales Economods are both incredibly tight in the waning season.
Defending champion and three time winner Darrell Bossard leads the Evergreen Lake Park Campground points chase by a comfortable 93 point cushion over two time winner Dave Airgood. Airgood has a less safe fifteen point margin over June 7 winner Breyton Santee. Santee, however, has a very tenuous single point lead over former champion Kyle Zimmerman for third. Zimmerman was victorious on May 24. Four time winner Matt Latta is fifth, another 25 points back. Nobody else has gone to the Winner’s Circle this summer in the marquee class.
Five points are all that separate E-Mod leader and two time winner Casey Bowers from his closest pursuer, Mike Kinney, a two time winner himself. Kinney has a comfortable seventy point cushion over two time champion Gary Eicher, a three time winner, then another 55 over fourth running and four time winner (including three in a row) Mike Potosky. Dan McDonald is fifth, yet another 31 points back. Dennis Lunger has one win, that coming on May 31.
Two time Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stock winner Pat Fielding leads their championship chase by a comfortable 107 points over Jamie Duncan, the winner July 26. Last week’s winner, Bill Watson, is only two points behind in third over Joe Stajnragh, not yet in Victory Lane, fourth, with another 28 points back to Darr Diegelman, also not yet with a win. Paul Davis has three wins, Wesley McCray and Pat Fielding each have two wins while Jamie Duncan, Kyle Couchenour, Curt Bish, and Watson each have one.
The tightest points battle is for the Bonnell’s Auto Sales Economod championship where only six points separate the top three drivers. Kyle Miller, last week’s winner, for the fourth time this season, leads by a thin two point margin over Nate Young, a two time winner. Matt Alexander, the winner July 19, is third. Then it’s another 195 points back to fourth running Jarrit Young, who won his first-ever feature on July 5. Fifth is Dustin Demattia, only seven behind Jarrit Young. Demattia has not yet been to Victory Lane at Raceway 7. Other winners include twice for Eric Wilson and once for Jacob Eucher.
Two time winner Mark Lawrence has an impressive 94 point lead over 2018 champion six time winner Dillon Speer in the Sunnyside Farm Transit Mini Stocks. Speer, in turn, leads former champion Jim Haefke by another 25 points. Haefke was the winner on June 28. Jessica Harvey, who has not yet won, is fourth, another 21 back, with Emily Stoyer, also without a win, in fifth, 26 behind Harvey. Other winners include 2017 champion Joe Campbell twice and one for Pete Blaczak, that coming opening night.
