Snare Ends 9-Year Drought at Dog Hollow
4 min readSTRONGSTOWN, PA – Dog Hollow Speedway made the switch to Sunday nights and presented a six division show with a decent car count and crowd on hand.
Tim Snare Jr. of Huntingdon ended a four year winless streak by getting his first Dog Hollow win in Nine years as he picked up the RUSH Crate Late Model win, Mike Laughard of Twin Rocks picked up his third straight Super Late Model Feature, with Bobby Coles winning in the Sportsman’s Vintage Dirt Modified’s and Cody Schultz of Hyde winning the Modified Vintage Dirt Modified main while Brad Benton of Duncansville won the Pure Stock feature, it was Mahaffey’s Jon Lee winning in the 358 Semi Lates and Jeff Huber of Ringgold won the Four Cylinder main.
Scott Stein and Mike Laughard brought the Super Late Models to the green flag, with Laughard taking the lead. Stein was sitting second and began reeling in the leader, and he dove under Laughard, as they ran side by side going through turns three and four, but Laughard was able to hold off the challenge. Stein stayed with Laughard through lap 12, when Stein went over the second turn, bringing out the yellow.
Joey Petyak took over second as he tried to steal the lead from Laughard, but Laughard was not about to be denied, as he won his third straight. Petyak was second over Stein, John Wayne Weaver and John Myers. Stein won the heat.
Steve Lebarron and Timmy Snare Jr. brought the RUSH Crate Late Models to the green flag with Snare taking the lead and setting the pace, but his win was anything but easy, as Joe Moyer pursued Snare first, but he suffered a flat and relinquished second, to first Jamey Swank then Collin Burke took over second and started by pressuring Snare for first, but Snare wanted to get back to victory lane, and he did just that holding off all challengers for the win. The official top five were Snare, Swank, Moyer came back to third, Colin Casale was fourth and Burke was fifth. Lebarron won the heat.
Jon Lee and Chad Helman made up the front row of the 358 Semi Late Feature, with Lee taking the lead and never having a serious challenge after the first few laps, as he pulled out to a sizable lead and took his second win of the season at the speedway. Bernie Whiteford Jr. won the fight for second, Helman was third with Austin Getch and Shane Nihart rounding out the top five. Lee win the heat as well.
Brad Benton, like Lee in the Semi Lates, beat Jeremy Zufall off the line to start he Pure Stock Feature, and he never relinquished the top spot, as he led the non-stop event from green to checkered to get his sixth win of the season. Zufall was second over Sam McAdams, Brandon Doland and Corey Jones. Zufall win the heat.
The Four Cylinder Feature saw two red flags halt the action, as Chuck Dizzle and Mike Potter led the 25-car field to the green flag, before Bryant Matthew got turned around at the end of the front stretch and Brad Lemonovich had no where to go and careened into Matthew, causing the first red. Lemonovich was evaluated by members of Blacklick Valley EMS and released.
Once the race restarted, Dizzle took the lead, until lap five, when Jack Theys was able to move into the top spot, then the second red flew for a multi- car pileup on the front stretch that saw Brooks Kauffman be evaluated by EMS. He was also released and not transported.
The race restarted again on lap 5 with Theys in command, but a fast moving Jeff Huber took the lead with an outside pass on Theys exiting turn four on lap 9. Huber held on to the lead and picked up the win over Theys, Dizzle, Potter and Dylan Young. Dizzle, Potter and Theys win the heats.
Cody Schultz took the lead from Steve Longo on lap 9 and went on to get his first Vintage Modified win at Dog Hollow. Bobby Coles won the Sportsmans portion of the event.
