BOSS Set To Try Again At Fremont
2 min readFour of the first seven events of 2019 BOSS season have been claimed by mother nature. That list includes one wash out at Fremont Speedway on May 4th. This Saturday night, the traditional wingless sprint cars will try once again at the historic Sandusky County Fairgrounds 1/3 mile dirt oval. The first 3 completed events have been won by Matt Westfall, Nick Bilbee and Luke Hall.
Dallas Hewitt, aboard the Todd Keen owned #18, is the current points leader over Westfall. Hewitt was runner-up in the opening round at Atomic and followed that up with 7th place and 5th place runs at Lawrenceburg Speedway and Moler Raceway Park. Westfall sits in the second spot after winning at Atomic, he was eliminated in a crash at Lawrenceburg, but rebounded for a runner-up finish to Hall at Moler. Dustin Ingle, Justin Owen and Michael Fischesser round out the current top 5 in the standings. Cody Gardner, Dustin Webber, Kory Crabtree, Mike Miller and Steve Little complete the top 10. The 11-15 spots belong to Matt Cooley, Ben Knight, Parker Frederickson, Bill Rose and Shawn Westerfeld.
Gates will open at 4 pm on Saturday. General admission is $15 with seniors admitted for $13. Kids age 10-15 are admitted for $10 while kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes will be $30. Joining BOSS for Fort Ball Pizza Palace night will be the 305 winged sprints and the Fremont dirt trucks.
For teams competing, Hooiser Race Tire has graciously extended the “open tire” burn off period for this event. Rain or shine this Saturday, the 4 corner Hoosier rule will go into effect NEXT weekend (June 21-22) with the doubleheader weekend at Twin Cities and Richmond. NO MUFFLERS are required for BOSS at Fremont. Teams are required to use the Westhold (yellow) transponders. As always at Fremont, they will be available to rent for just $5. Cars will draw into heat race groups, then time trial during their hot lap session.
