Frank, Anderson, Bish, & Wicker Pick Up Wins At Thunder Mountain

Knox Dale- Thunder Mountain Speedway seen a large crowd and car count Friday night as Racers For Tots sold raffle tickets for their 2019 Rocket XR1 car and Triple Nickel Distillery pleased fans with samples of their own moonshine. First on hand for the night, were the Watt Logging Pure Stocks. Tim Steis in the 45 and Rich Anderson in the 516 made up the front row for the green flag. On the start, Anderson jumped out to the lead as Steis ran in second. Matt Putt 11P, Justin Watt 00, and Jenna Pfaff in the 33 all battled for third before Watt would moved into second. As the laps counted down, Rich Anderson had a far lead on the whole field. Rich Anderson would go on to win his first ever pure stock feature event at Thunder Mountain Speedway. Anderson was followed by Justin Watt, Tim Steis, Matt Putt, Makenna Pierce, and Jenna Pfaff. The lone heat race winner was Tim Steis.
Second for the evening were the Legend Powersports Super Late Models for their 30 lap, $3,000 to win special. Chub Frank in the 1* and Doug Drown in the 12 made up the front row to go green for 30 laps. As the green flag flew, Frank jumped to the lead before a pile up in turn four made the caution flag come out. On the restart, David “Slowride” Scott and Doug Drown battled for second as Chris Hackett in the 33 and Greg Oakes in the 22 battled for fifth. Del Rougeux was running in seventh before the 28D machine went over the backstretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart, Matt Lux in the 111 moved into fifth as David Scott moved into second. A few laps later, Kyle Hardy in the 36 moved into fourth as Chris Hackett and Dave Hess battled for seventh. Kyle Knapp in the 33K and Gale Huey in the 11H ran eighth and ninth before Levi Sikora in the 57S slowed on the front stretch with some mechanical problems. On the restart, Hardy gets sideways in turn two as Chad McClellan in the 7M and Curtis Teats in the 11V get involved. McClellan and Teats both sustained heavy damage to their cars, but were both all ok after the wreck. On the restart, Greg Oakes battles Matt Lux for third as Dave Hess moved into fifth to crack a top five. Chris Hackett and Kyle Knapp duked it out for sixth before Knapp moved into the sixth position as Oakes passed Lux for third. With five laps to go, Chris Hackett slows on the front stretch with a flat tire to bring out the caution. On the restart, Dave Hess moved into fourth as Chub Frank ran out front strong. At the end, it was Chub Frank who led the race from green to checkers to go on and win the $3,000 Super Late Model feature event. Chub Frank was followed by David Scott, Greg Oakes, Dave Hess, Matt Lux, Doug Drown, Kyle Knapp, Brandon Groters, Paul Kot, Wyatt Scott, Chris Farrel, Del Rougeux, Chris Hackett, Nate Brady, Kyle Hardy, Gale Huey, Chad McClellan, Curtis Teats, Clate Copeman, Levi Sikora, and John Wayne Weaver. Charles Powell Jr was a DQ. Bobby Rohrer and Doug Eck were DNS. Heat winners were Doug Drown, Chub Frank, and David Scott.
Third for the evening were the FDR HVAC Street Stocks. Fuzzy Fields in the 28 and Tim Bish in the 11B made up the front row to go green. On the start, Tim Bish jumped out to the early lead as Zach Gustafson in the 983 moved into third. Bill Hurrellbrink in the C8 and Gary Luzier in the 960 battled for fourth before the 222 of Tyler Kubic spun in turn two. On the restart, Gustafson and Fields battled for second before the 222 of Kubic loops it in turn two. O the restart, Curtis Bish in the 29 moved into second as Gustafson and Hurrellbrink battled for third. A few laps later, Dale Yeany in the 11Y slowed on the front stretch with some mechanical problems to bring out the caution. On the restart, Luzier moved into third as Hurrellbrink took over the fifth place position. At the checkers, it was Tim Bish who held on to win his first feature of 2019 at Thunder Mountain Speedway. Bish was followed by Curtis Bish, Bill Hurrellbrink, Gary Luzier, Zach Gustafson, Allen English, James Scharba, Gill Demelo, Tyler Kubic, Dale Yeaney, and Fuzzy Fields. Heat winners were Tim Bish and Fuzzy Fields.
The fourth feature for the evening were the Kinetic By WIndstream Semi Late Models. Jeremy Ohl in the 5J and Jarid Ivory in the 17 made up the front row to go green for twenty laps. Before a lap was put in the books, a pile up in turn two reset the field for a complete restart. On the restart, Jeremy Ohl jumped to the lead as Ivory, Jon Lee in the 5L, and Rich Wicker in the 2T battled for second. The caution flag flew for the 20 of George Bailey who spun in turn two. On the restart, Wicker moved into second as Todd English in the 711 slowed to go pit side. Joe Martin the 28S moved into third as the 222 of Jeff Sweeney took over the fifth position. Jon Lee moved into sixth before the red flag came out for Vern Ward who rolled in turn three. Once everything was cleaned up, Ward was okay and headed to the pits. On the restart, Lee and Sweeney battled for fifth before Lee took over the fifth place position. Out front, Wicker and Ohl were putting on a show for the lead. A few laps later, Wicker and Ohl touched in turn three to bring out a caution. On the restart, Martin moved into second trying to pressure Wicker for the lead as Jarid Ivory closed in on Martin, and Jeremy Ohl moved into fifth. At the end, It was all Rich Wicker who held off a strong pack of cars to win his first ever Semi Late Model Feature event. Wicker was followed by Jon Lee, Joe Martin, Jarid Ivory, Jeremy Ohl, Jeff Sweeney, Nick Fulmer, Bob McMillen, Kyle Smith Jr, Luke Barnett, Jim Challingsworth, Kevin Dickson, George Bailey, Caleb Whiteford, Ryan Caldwell, Vern Ward, and Todd English. Andy Frey, Doug Surra, Scott Umbaugh, Bernie Whiteford, Joe Malobicky, Bo Lockwood, Scott Carbaugh, and Kylee Brown were DNS. Heat winners were Kyle Smith Jr, Jeremy Ohl, and Jarid Ivory.
The last feature for the evening were the Dunlap Lawn & Garden Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders. Joe Huber in the 8H and Shawn Hadden in the 3H made up the front row to go green. On the start, Huber takes over the lead as Hadden ran in second. Hadden had pressure from the 42 of Jeff Huber who has been strong all season. Jeff Huber would pass Hadeen for second and set his sights on Joe Huber for the lead. Josh Frantz in the 15B and Joe Huber battled for third as Curtis Mohney moved into fourth. Patrick Crawford in the C4 and Michael Phillipeon in the 69R battled for sixth. Once Jeff Huber got out to the lead, there was no looking back for the 42 machine. At the end, it was Jeff Huber who went on to pick up another Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinder feature event. Huber was followed by Shawn Hadden, Josh Frantz, Joe Huber, Patrick Crawford, Curtis Mohney, Bill Fuchs, Michael Phillipeon, Cody McNaughton, Chad Greeley, Austin Fedder, Greg Kiehl, Zach Lennox, and Cody Young. Heat winners were Jeff Huber and Josh Frantz.
