New Year, New Team & New Events On Tap For 2019
4 min readThe Jennerstown Speedway Complex LLC is excited to enter into the New Year with just that…. A whole lot of new.
Team:
A new ownership group will be in place for the 2019 season. Richard Pologruto, John Morocco, and Larry Hemminger will command the speedway into 2019 and beyond after officially purchasing the the speedway from JENNSUE LLC. on Tuesday February 5th, 2019. All three men were part of the original group of six that has revitalized the speedway over the past four years. Car counts have consistently grown and the crowd has exceeded over 100,000 fans each of the last two seasons. Nationally televised events have returned to the speedway along with a large scale late model event. It is once again an exciting time for short track racing in the scenic Laurel Highlands thanks to the effort of these men and their management team.
Drivers:
Many new faces will be seen at the Speedway this summer and some of the fan favorites can be seen with a new look and even in a new division. The Speedway is thrilled with the surge that has hit the late model division. Dirt modified superstar Drake “the kid” Troutman will make his asphalt debut in 2019 in the Martellas Pharmacies late model division along with some of Jennerstowns own modified drivers who will be making the switch to the late model division in 2019. Both Jared Barclay and Paul Fess Jr. will be competing full time in the late models this season. Also rejoining the field will be West Virginia driver Scott Stern and long time local favorite John Komarinski. John will be celebrating his 33rd year of racing in his famous car #33. Several other teams are also switching divisions, and names from the past are purchasing cars and equipment to once again compete at the legendary half mile.
Events:
Huge news for 2019 is the addition of the All Star Monster Truck Tour that will feature the iconic BIG FOOT on Saturday July 27th. It’s been quite some time since the loud and powerful monster trucks have toured the facility and the fans are sure excited. The speedway has seen a massive presale of ticket for the event, selling over one third capacity. This event is sure to sell out so order your ticket at www.jennerstown.org today. Although the Motor Mountain Masters is not new in 2019 it will have a slight new look with the addition of the Farmers Union CO-OP charger division. It will be the biggest paying event of 2019 for the chargers. The Stoystown Auto Wrecker Modifieds will also be in action again in 2019 along with Martellas late models. The 2018 Masters event made a great impression on the Pro Late Model community and teams from across the country are itching for there chance to qualify for the 2019 event. A new added bonus for 2019 will be the addition of purse money for the already $6,000 to win late model event. 2019 will include a $250 hard charger award for the driver who advances the most positions during the 150 lap event along with a $500 prize to the winner of each of the 1st and 2nd segments. There will also be a bonus to the highest finishing Granite State Pro Stock driver. Many of the series drivers have contact the speedway with interest in the crown jewel event and their series director has graciously formatted their schedule so these drivers can participate. For every Granite State Pro Stock driver that participates a $100 bonus will be added to their highest finisher from their series. For example, if 5 Granite State drivers participate the bonus will be $500 to their highest finisher! The Super Cup Stock Car Series will also return to the speedway twice in 2019. First on July 13th and again on September 14th. The September 14th event will also feature the Must See Racing Sprint Cars once again. The Must See Racing Series made its inaugural visit in 2018 and was a fan favorite.
Point Fund:
The new ownership group recognized that something has been missing for the drivers for the past several years. Even though the drivers receive a weekly purse payment and championship awards are giving, a season ending point fund has been missing. The new owners would like to show their appreciation to the drivers with an over $22,000 point fund that is to be divided up amongst the top ten drivers in each of the five weekly divisions. “This is an important aspect that has been missing from our program” says general manager Billy Hribar. “These drivers are dedicated to the speedway week after week and this is our way of saying thank you for their unwavering commitment.”
