After a week off due to the Tyler County Fair, America’s Baddest Bullring would swing back into action. With Mother Nature lurking around and even an afternoon shower wouldn’t dampen spirits as the Tyler County Speedway would open the gates to a pit full of race cars and an immaculate, smooth and racey ‘Bullring’.

The Bullring would welcome Pennsylvania’s new 602 crate powered Rush Sprint Car Series to the Mountain State for the first time with Pleasantville, PA’s Gale Ruth Jr. aboard the 1c machine blistering the field. Following the very impressive run by Ruth was Scott Hawkins and Brandon Hawkins.

In the J&R Excavating Super Late Model main event presented by Midcap Land and Timber it would be Greenwood, WV’s Derek Doll outdueling a game Robbie Scott to secure his 3rd win of the season. It would not be easy for Doll as the talented duo would battle throughout the 25 lap event using the entire highbanked surface. Following Doll and Scott across the stripe was Kyle Thomas, Andy Bond and Travis Brown.

The top two in the AMRA National Point Standings Kyle Bond and Daniel Hill would square off in a battle royale as the quest to claim the 2018 championship heats up. Bond would bolt off his front row starting spot and grab a big lead poised for his first ever Tyler County feature win. Hill would eventually pull into 2nd place and begin to reel the leader in but the lead looked unsurmountable until a late race caution flag. With Hill now glued to Bond’s bumper and just a couple of laps remaining a classic ‘Bullring’ shootout was in store. The talented duo would race side by side in an all-out war with Hill making the slide job pass in turn two on the final circuit to secure his fifth win of the season at the ‘Bullring’. A game Kyle Bond would narrowly cross in second followed by Chad Smith, Mark Dickson and current point leader Chris Basich in a great feature event.

Veteran racer Donnie Dotson of West Union aboard the familiar #15 would notch his first win in the Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK Late Model division. The likeable veteran would hold off a hard charging and current FASTRAK National Point leader Kyle Lukon to secure his popular win. Following Dotson and Lukon across the line were Troy Frazier, Sparky Davisson and a rapidly improving Garrett Jones. Several of Tyler County Speedway’s FASTRAK Late Model regulars continue their quest after the FASTRAK National Championship with the latest point standings currently showing Bullring regulars holding down six of the top ten spots.

The stars of the Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmod division would shoot it out in the biggest race of the season for the economical division as the $1,500 to win Workin’ Man World Championship was on the line. A great three car battle between upstart Casey Ash, veteran Tom Sigler and point leader Danny Thomas would see the race go down to the wire with the trio finishing in that order. Unfortunately following post-race inspection the likeable Ash did not pass post-race tech giving the win to Sigler over Danny Thomas, Jeff Gorrell, CJ Dotson and Travis Thomas.

A season long heated point battle in the Jenkins Auto Modlite division between point leader Daniel Eddy and chaser Ryan Saffell would yet again play out on the track Saturday Night. Saffell would notch win #4 on the season matching that of Eddy and pull within three points of the point lead with the victory last night. Chasing Saffell across the line was Eddy, Matt Ward, Mitch Ward and Josh Baldwin.

A slim four car Sport Compact main event would see Beallsville, Ohio’s James Schnegg grab his first ever feature win over Ethan Drain, Mike Baker and Philip Bubeck.

The always entertaining Gear 2 Graphics MWRA Mini Wedges would kick the evening off with Josalyn Hibbard grabbing the Senior division win ahead of Ryan Hare and Luke Hyre. In the Junior division it was Mason Todd getting the win over Jake Casto and Natalie Hibbard.

Join us next Saturday Night, August 18th as the Tyler County Speedway puts a cap on the regular season with the annual Hillbilly Qualifier events in all classes along with the Season Championship Night. It’s also Leg #5 of the Super Late Model Road to the 50th Hillbilly 100 Mini Series. Plus we induct the first six recipients into the Bull Ring of Honor.

The Tyler County Speedway would like to thank all those that participated in our Backpack Giveaway, the kids loved them and the Hometown Racing Association appreciates your continued support of America’s Baddest Bullring.
