Jake Gomola Tops 305 Sprints At Dog Hollow
3 min readSTRONGSTOWN, PA (May 18, 2018) – Armed Forces Night at Dog Hollow Speedway found Nick Erskine picking up the 358 Semi Late Feature while Dave Blazavich won the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models. The 305 Sprints made their first visit of the season with Jake Gamola, of Seneca, taking the checkers. Clate Copeman won the RUSH Crate Late Models with John Costa taking the DM Craig Fabrication 4 Cylinder and Duke Davidson was the AMSOIL Pure Stocks.
The 15-lap 358 Semi Late feature started with Robert Cossell taking the lead. Cossell was able to hold on for six laps before Mahaffey driver Nick Erskine took over the top spot. Erskine then went on to lead the final nine laps for his first win of the season. Nate Smith won the heat race.
Defending Point Champion Dave Blazavich, of Indiana, held off Doug Glessner for the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model win. Blazavich started on the pole and led all 25-lap. Glessner chased him all the whole race but settled for second over Ryan Christoff, Ryan Claycomb and Rick Lias. Glessner won the lone heat.
In the 305 Sprint feature event it was all Jake Gamola winning for the fourth time in his career at Dog Hollow. Kyle Ganoe took over the runnerup spot with just a few laps left but was unable to catch Gamola. Tyler Denochick, Jonathan Jones, Brian Wright, Ryan Lynn, Ron Aurand, Robert Garvey, Randy Sterling and Greg Dobrosky rounded out the top ten. Heat were won by Denochick and Drew Ritchey.
Johnstown’s John Costa led all 12 laps to pick up the win in the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinder Feature. It was Costa’s fourth career win at Dog Hollow. Mike Phillipson was second over Brady Miller, Noah Swank, Logan Graham, Dave Gacka, Bill Eckenrode, David Needham, Chuck Dizzle and Cory Price. Dizzle and Phillipson were the heat winners.
Mahaffey’s Duke Davidson took the lead from EJ Rozak on lap three and led the final 13 laps for his first win of the season. Amber Mills was second over EJ Rozak, Greg Blystone and Brian Savino. The lone heat was won by Rozak.
The RUSH Crate Late Models saw 2018 Track Champion leading all 20 laps to score his first win of the season. Duritsky was able to stay with him but had to settle for second ahead of Joe Moyer, Braeden Dillinger, Bryan Benton, Rick Singleton, Mike Laughard, John Britsky, Jared Kane and Paul Ivory. Taking the heat wins were Duritsky and Moyer.
