Drivers Salute Mothers With Great Racing

We start this post by saying Happy Mothers’ Day to all the wonderful mothers out there! The Mothers’ Day weekend event brought a lot of families to the track to get to see some great racing!

The AMRA Modifieds would headline the night’s events as usual. 7 cars signed in to do battle on the tough 4/10ths mile speedway. Aaron Barley would come out and blister the track at a 16.890 to set fast time on the night. In the Mooney’s Speed Shop Schaffer’s Oil, oil jug redraw though Aaron wouldn’t fare so well drawing the number six which put him starting 5th in the dash. Problems for young gun Austin Linville would sideline him before the official start of the race and Barley would get to pull up to the 3rd starting spot. Aaron took no time before he would put his fast time setting car back in the front of the dash. He would speed off and win the dash and pick up the $100 from Mooney’s Speed Shop. Jason Cochran would win the loan heat race on the night. The feature would be a quick one on the night with the lone caution being when new driver to the class Kurtis Swim took a quick spin on the inside of turn four. No contact was made and he was able to continue racing. Aaron Barley would continue his dominance in the class as he would lead from green to checker taking home another win on the season. Jason Cochran who started way back in seventh would meticulously work his way through the field to a very strong second place finish. Sammy Duncan with a solid night would cross the line third. Michael Moore would finish fourth and Kurtis Swim even after his spin would bring his car home fifth. A rigorous tech was done on the top four cars after the feature and all four were found to be legal.

The FASTRAK Pro Late Models had a good mix of 9 cars sign in for the racing program. Henry Hornsby III would set fast time on the night at 16.924. In the Mooney’s collision center llc. Dash For Cash that meant that Hornsby would start pole. He took no time to jump to the lead and lead all the laps of the dash picking up the $100 bonus! True Rookie driver Joseph Zupanick would pick up the heat race win in only his second start at Princeton Motor Speedway! The FASTRAK Pro Late Model feature would probably be the second best feature event on the night. The field broke into three packs with cars all racing hard against each other. Eddie Hambrick would jump into second place early following after Henry Hornsby III and being pursued by Tate Hughes. The first caution would fly on lap one for Brandon Riffe. When racing took back off the battling in the packs of three continued and on lap four Tate Hughes made his move into second passing Eddie Hambrick, but the next time by Hambrick was back in second. Then by lap six Hughes had sorted into the sixith positon. We would have a long green flag run which was just what Hughes wanted as he closed in getting ready to make a move on Hornsby III. A caution on lap 14 was not what Hughes appeared to want to see as once the race resumed Hornsby would drive away and never look back picking up the win on the night. Tate Hughes would have to deal with Hambrick after the restart, but would manage to hold on to the second position with Hambrick coming home third. Ted Johnson picked up the fourth place finish with a very good showing and new driver to the class Dave Wikle Jr. picked up the fifth place finish.

The SECA Modifieds once again had the lone driver Miki Murphy sign in. He would get the feature win and 34 points towards the SECA National Championship.

The Ground Pounder class would steal the show again at Princeton Speedway. This time 6 cars would sign in to race. Matt Justice would dominate the heat and Daniel Lowe would pick up the Mooney’s Towing & Recovery Hard Charger away of 5 Gallons of Sunoco Race fuel. The feature on the other hand would make for a great night of exciting racing. Matt Justice and Freddy Mooney battled side by side for many laps. Mooney trying everything he could to figure out a way to get past Justice. A caution would fly on lap 10 for Cody Lowe. This appeared to be the opportunity Mooney was waiting for. He was getting closer and closer to the top spot until a run of two much momentum got Mooney into Justice causing Mooney to spin bringing a caution out on lap 13. This would not be the end of the show though because out of nowhere Jeff Crawford made a hard charge on Justice battling him for the win on the last two laps, but Justice would prevail taking the victory over Crawford. Freddy Mooney after his spin would come back to a third place finish with Daniel Lowe slotting home in the fourth place position on the night. Cody Lowe would be credited with the fifth place finish.

The Street Stock revival would continue with three cars signing in for the race. Justin Styer would proudly drive his #33 machine to victory in the heat race. The feature would start out exciting as Lane Wood would come very close to leading his first lap in his young rookie season, but that was derailed just before the stripe as Justin Styer would lead lap one. Terry Styer who made it exciting in the heat after a spin and losing his nose came out and took the lead from Justin on lap two. Terry would lead the rest of the way picking up the win on the night. His brother Justin would finish second and Lane Wood would come home third.

The Pro Mini division had a lot on the line with going for $25 for fast time and 5 gallons of Sunoco Fuel if anyone could be Mark Shrewsbury’s fastest time ever of a 19.078 courtesy of Mooney’s Speed Shop. Sherwsbury’s record would be safe on the night though. Tyler Meadows would try hard though setting fast time at a 19.329 and picking up the $25. Tyler Meadows would also win the heat. A caution free feature which only took four minutes and twenty seconds would see Tyler Meadows leading the whole way picking up the win. Mark Cole would take second and Jeremy Finley would bring home the third place finish. Shawn King would take the fourth position in his #7 machine.

The Chick-fil-A Mini Wedges had two cars sign in for racing action. Kaiden Helmer would have problems early and Logan Brant would lead the whole feature taking the win! Kaiden Helmer would get the second place finish.
