‘Let It Ride 55’ Up Next At The Tyler County Speedway
3 min read(Middlebourne, WV) After the Hometown Racing Association was able to sneak one past Mother Nature last Saturday and put race #2 in the books, drivers and fans will now turn their attention to the rescheduled running of the Renegades of Dirt AMRA Modified 6th Annual ‘Let It Ride 55’, paying $3,055 to win on Saturday Night, April 29th. A tradition rich open wheel modified crown jewel as the hunt for the unique slot machine trophy and substantial purse will be up for grabs as the best modified racers on the east coast converge at the ‘Bullring’ for their shot at hitting the jackpot. A who’s who winners list that is comprised of some of the best hotshoes in the business shows it’s not easy to etch your name on the winners trophy. Past winners include Tyler Nicely, Nick Hoffman, Rick Aukland, Tanner Wilson and last years winner Jesse Wisecarver.
Coming into the ‘Let It Ride 55’ on a hot streak and looking to defend the home-turf is defending track champion in the 2 Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modified division Shawn Jett. The Salem, WV driver has performed flawlessly so far and has a stranglehold on the Tyler County Speedway victory lane by going 2 for 2 on the young season. A host of speedway regulars along with many regional stars are expected to roll the dice this Saturday Night in the 6th running of the ‘Let it Ride 55’.
A complete night of action in all other divisions will also be on the stellar card. So far in the early stages of the 2017 season, it appears past track champions and many time past feature winners are on their game. In the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land & Timber, it has been Greenwood standout and twice defending track champion Derek Doll in his XR-1 Rocket doubling up. In the Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK Late Models, the surging duo of young guns Kyle Lukon and Henry Hornsby III who both tasted victory lane in 2016 have been the front runners so far in 2017 with a feature win each. Lukon making the trek weekly from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and the young and talented Hornsby making the long tow from the coal fields of Bradley, West Virginia. Perennial winners and the last two track champions Mick Baker and Travis Thomas have garnered the first two Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts feature events in convincing fashion. Also past division dominators and former track champions Mitch Ward of Spelter, WV and Josh Baldwin of Beallsville, Ohio have both been the class of the field so far in the Modlite division. The 4 Cylinder division has seen a steady diet of the B&J Performance Cavalier of Bill Tennant as the Colliers, WV driver has snared both feature events so far.
