Big Block Modified Tour To Highlight Season Opener At Tyler County

(Middlebourne, WV) With Mother Nature taking the first two checkered flags of the season, have left many of the Tyler County Speedway faithful itching for a night at the ‘Bullring’ as we look to officially kick off the 43rd annual season at West Virginia’s premier motorsports destination. A giant night of must see action will drop the green on the new season this Saturday Night, April 15th as the Hometown Racing Association will welcome back Pennsylvania’s Modified Tour to the ‘Bullring’. The Northeast Big Block Modifieds will roll back into the ‘Bullring’ for their fourth ever visit to the Middlebourne, WV high bank oval. Always entertaining, the groundpounding V-8 big blocks make the earth shake around the Tyler County Speedway producing three and four wide action all over the wide and racey venue. Past winners of the Modified Tour at Tyler County Speedway include Kevin Bolland in 2007, Brian Swartzlander with a memorable charge from a 23rd starting spot in 2008 to most recent as Rex King Jr. would outduel dad Rex King Sr. during the Tour’s 2015 visit. Dropping into the ‘Bullring’ for the 2nd stop on the 2017 Modified Tour will see the aforementioned Rex King Jr. of Bristolville, Ohio leading the tour points ahead of New York teammates Randy Chrysler and Ransomville, New York’s Erick Rudolph.

About the Modified Tour, Inc. racing series is a non-profit organization established to give the V-8 Modifieds in the Western Pennsylvania/Eastern Ohio area a chance to compete with one another for a higher purse structure and for a point fund for the scheduled events. Started in 1998 by Tim Engles, Lon and Pam Baker and Randy Myers the Modified Tour has had great success at bringing the local cars together at various speedways in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia and Canada. Also on the opening night card will be the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land and Timber, Appalachian Mineral Title Co. FASTRAK Late Models, 2 Brothers AMRA Modifieds, Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts, Modlites, 4 Cylinders and Gear 2 Graphic MWRA Mini Wedges.

Gates will open early at 3pm to allow for opening night registration, transponder, etc. with the MWRA Mini Wedges slated for 5:45 with hotlaps/qualifying set to get underway at 6:30 with racing to follow. General admission is priced at $18 with children 10 and under free while pit prices are $35.
