Jack Shutts Memorial To Return To Skyline Speedway In 2017

(Guysville, Ohio) After a year absence, the Jack Shutts Memorial is officially set to return to the Skyline Speedway this coming Friday July 14th. The event which commemorates the life and celebrates the memory of Jack Shutts, will return to the track for a special Friday night of racing and coincide with the tracks scheduled “kids night”.

While the event was not held at the Skyline Speedway in 2017, as the facility switched between managements, the friends and family of the late Jack Shutts, including his wife Billie Shutts expressed interest in seeing the event return to it’s original host location, which the Skyline Speedway staff are excited to help make happen . Promoter Steve Curtis and staff understand the impact the Skyline Speedway played upon Jack’s career within the sport and also understand it was people like Jack Shutts who have helped ensure Skyline Speedway’s existence over the years.

The event which as previously noted, will take place on July 14 with feature racing in all regular classes and at this time, will feature normal purses. The track does however plan to put a few bonus opportunities into the evening’s purse in support of the teams, which it is actively pursing support in doing so. The event which will again coincide with the track’s “kids night” will feature plenty of activities, giveaways and fun for young race fans and will be a great family event much like Jack would had taken pride in.
(Important to note, the scheduled Autograph Night on July 14th, will now move to July 7th)

July will be a short but eventful month of racing for those at the Skyline Speedway, as the track will host only 3 events. starting with Friday July 7th (Autograph Night) and July 14 (Jack Shutts Memorial) and will close with a rare Wednesday night special as the Buckeye Late Model DirtWeek will roll into the 3/8th mile oval for a mid-week showdown on Wednesday July 26..

For those who may not be familiar with Jack Shutts, Jack was a longtime friend of the sport who served not only as a flagman but also a scorekeeper and even announcer at the Skyline Speedway, Tyler County Speedway and others. Jack’s dedication to the sport was evident upon the inception of the memorial race dedicated to his memory and has not only helped ensure Jack’s memory lives on, but has also created great even more racing memories. While Jack Shutts passed away in 2008, his memory is sure to live on through his loving family and their same passion for the sport of dirt track racing.
