(Middlebourne, WV) A rare warm summer like Saturday in March would kick off the 2017 racing season at the ‘Bullring’ in picturesque fashion. A family fun day at the speedway would see over 150 cars roll thru the gates at Tyler County Speedway for its annual Test n’ Tune session. With an added bonus of the first of four Enduro’s scheduled for the speedway in 2017 as the Joe Dirt 100 was on tap entertaining speed hungry race fans. A strong field of sixty five adrenaline junkies would take the challenge of being named winner in the first running of the Joe Dirt 100 Enduro race. Corey Jenkins of Zanesville, Ohio driving the black #70 Chevy Monte Carlo would best Linesville, Pennsylvania’s Tim Gillette’s 93′ Toyota Celica in a hotly contested lead pack. Rounding out the top five was Clarksburg, WV’s Dale Kile aboard a Chevy Cavalier, while local hotshoe Hunter ‘Pacman’ Doak would gobble up the competition for a fourth place run with Hannibal, Ohio’s Chris Martie rounding out the top five. The next Enduro event of the season will be the ‘Ricky Bobby’ 100 on Saturday, June 3rd as part of the Kings of Karnage event. A well-manicured, smooth, wide and fast racing surface would await the near 90 race cars looking to shake down their 2017 rides in several different divisions from the youth MWRA Mini Wedges to the ultra-horsepower Super Late Model machines. Sitting atop the speed charts at the end of the day and earning a free pit pass for the Saturday, April 1st Season Opener were as follows.

In the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land and Timber it would be young Brian Baumberger in his unlettered blue machine blistering the ‘Bullring’ at a 12.28 seconds early in the day. The Jacobsburg, Ohio driver would near track record speeds, an impressive feat for day time conditions. Picking up fast time in the Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK Late Model division would be defending track champion Danny Thomas in the familiar 7JR. In the 2 Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modified division it was St. Clairsville, Ohio’s Codi Eaton notching quick time in his sharp #40. Leading the way over a staunch 26 car turnout in the Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts was New Martinsville, WV’s Tim Pennell. It would be Fairmont, WV’s John Cogar aboard the Hillbilly Truck Repair Modlite fast timing over a strong field of mighty modlites. Turning the quick lap of the day in the 4 Cylinder division was Colliers, WV driver Bill Tennant.

There will be no April Fools, this Saturday Night, April 1st as the Tyler County Speedway will kick-off for the 2017 season with the 43rd Annual Season Opener. The first checkered flags of the young season will be up for grabs as we kick off another season at the ‘Bullring’. Every 43rd fan thru the gate will get entered into a drawing for a night in the VIP Suite. Early season start times will be in effect as gates will open at 3pm, with the MWRA Mini Wedges slated for 5:45 with hotlaps/qualifying getting underway at 6:30. General admission is $12, children 10 and under free with pit pricing $30.

Tyler County Speedway is located 3 ½ miles south of Middlebourne, WV on State Route 18 at the Tyler County Fairgrounds approximately an hour from Wheeling, Clarksburg & Parkersburg.
