Allegheny Sprint Tour Releases 2025 Schedule

GUYS MILLS PA (JANUARY 4, 2025): Jacob Gomola, the Allegheny Sprint Tour (AST) promoter in western PA, announced the tour’s ninth season schedule for 2025.

“Our ninth year looks like our best season yet with almost 30 nights of racing covering five tracks with the possibility of more tracks being added to the schedule,” Gomola said.

The season will kick off on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Michael’s Mercer Raceway for the annual running of the Chiller Thriller. AST is scheduled to appear thirteen times at the Mercer Bullring. Logan McCandless won the Chiller Thriller in 2021.

AST returns to Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 12, for the first time since 2017. It’s back for the season opener at Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Saturday, April 19. Lernerville Speedway hosts the first of five Sunday events on April 27 for Dirt TV’s 3 Wide Special.

May features five races for AST, including the third race of the season at Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Saturday, May 3. Lernerville Speedway’s second Dirt TV’s 3 Wide Special is on Sunday, May 4. AST and the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series go head-to-head in a non-points race at Dog Hollow Speedway on Friday, May 9. On Saturday, May 17, it’s the Bob Ryder Memorial at Michael’s Mercer Raceway. AST joins Western PA Sprint Speedweek on Thursday, May 29, at Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway.

AST rejoins Western PA Speedweek on Sunday, June 1, at Tri-City Raceway Park for the final night of the five-race series. On Friday, June 6, AST and LHSS return to Dog Hollow Speedway for another non-points event. June 6 is the first event of a three-race weekend for AST, as they visit Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Saturday, June 7. Then, it’s on to Lernerville for the third Dirt TV’s 3 Wide Special on Sunday, June 8.

AST closes out the month of June on Saturday, June 28, at Michael’s Mercer Raceway.

There will be four AST races in July, with two events at Lernerville on Sunday, July 6, for Dirt TV’s 3 Wide Special and again on Friday, July 25, for a Fab 4 event. AST visits Michael’s Mercer Raceway on two Saturdays, July 19 and July 26.

The Dog Days of August will be the season’s busiest month, with seven events at three tracks.

On Sunday, August 3, AST returns to Lernerville Speedway for the fifth and final Dirt TV’s 3 Wide Special event. Then, on Saturday, August 9, it’s the Al Priester Memorial at Michael’s Mercer Raceway. The series visits Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Saturday, August 16, and then returns for the Hawley Memorial on FRIDAY, August 22. Lernerville Speedway switches to Saturday, August 23, for the Peluso Roofing Sprint Car Spectacular. AST closes August with the Labor Day Weekend Special on Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31, at Tri-City Raceway Park.

The September AST schedule is fluid as talks continue with several tracks.

The 2025 Allegheny Sprint Tour season winds down with the Little Guy Nationals at Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Friday, October 3, and Saturday, October 4. The 2025 season closes with a doubleheader weekend on Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, at Lernerville Speedways Steel City Stampede at Lernerville Speedway.

AST promoter Gomola also announced that veteran racing journalist and media relations representative DJ Johnson will join the organization to assist with media relations and sponsorships.

“DJ [Johnson] has always supported the AST and IMCA RaceSaver 305 Sprint Cars in general,” Gomola said. “We are excited to have DJ [Johnson] on board for 2025.”
