ATTICA, OHIO (May 24, 2024)– The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels would begin its 2024 racing season on Friday evening at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH and Rusty Schlenk of McClure, OH would take the lead on lap four and proceed to lap up to the sixth-place finisher in claiming the $5,000 victory.

The win by Schlenk would be his first series win of the season and would be his 34th career series victory, placing him tied for third on the series all-time win list and would be his 41st career victory at Attica Raceway Park. Schlenk’s win came in the Tyler Borck owned Domination Race Car with sponsorship from Terry Hendrick Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM, Tom Finch Automotive, Tri-State Pole Barns, Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Landrum Performance Springs, Integra Shocks, Domination Race Cars, Dominator Race Products, VP Lubricants, VP Racing Fuels, Willy’s Carb and Dyno Shop, Wilwood, Velocita USA, Be Cool, All Star Performance, ZAMP Racing, KBC Graphix, Vahlco Racing Wheels, XS Power Batteries, MAGA Lifts, Race-Fan.com, C-N-T Services, and Chris Mapes.

Kyle Moore would take the lead at the start of the forty-lap main event, followed by Rusty Schlenk, Ryan Missler, Seth Daniels, and Rod Conley. Schlenk would challenge Moore for the lead on lap three and would take the lead on lap four. Schlenk would build his lead a bit and would catch slower traffic on lap eleven. Schlenk would work his way through lapped traffic masterfully, while Daniels would take the third position from Missler on lap fourteen. As the event neared the halfway mark, Schlenk turned it up a notch and began to pull away further from the field, while Daniels would pressure Moore for the runner-up slot, while Conley would take fourth from Missler at the halfway mark. Daniels and Moore would trade the second spot, with Moore resecuring the position on lap twenty-two. Schlenk would continue to build his lead, while Daniels took second back from Moore on lap twenty-six, only to have Moore reclaim the spot one circuit later. With Schlenk continuing to motor away from the field, Moore and Daniels would continue to mix it up for second, with Daniels taking second again on lap thirty-eight. Schlenk would see the checkered flag first by 6.116 seconds, with Moore making a turn four, last lap pass of Daniels to secure second, with Daniels third. Missler and Rod Conley would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be 17th starting Devin Shiels, Justin Chance, Casey Noonan, Gregg Haskell, and R.J. Conley.
