Ona Speedway Announces 2024 Mountaineer 100 Details
3 min readONA, WV-When the 2024 schedule was released last fall, one of the biggest changes to the schedule was moving the tracks biggest event, the Mountaineer 100, to the spring and sanctioning it for the first time with the Midwest Modifieds Tour powered by Wheeler Trucking. The speedway has now finalized all of the details for the mega event.
The weekend will start with an open practice day on Friday, April 26th. Practice will run from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm with pit gates opening at noon. Pit admission will be $25 for ages 13 and up and free for ages 12 and under. The Midwest Modifieds Tour powered by Wheeler Trucking and all Ona Speedway classes will be welcome to practice during the extended open practice session.
The Mountaineer 100 will take place on Saturday, April 27th with the racing card featuring the Midwest Modifieds Tour powered by Wheeler Trucking for 50 laps, Haunted Majestic Street Stocks for 50 laps to make up the 100 laps for the Mountaineer 100. All Seasons Powersports Late Models will run 35 laps, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s 30 laps, Three-Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Car Pro 20 laps, Three-Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro 20 laps, and Brody Nash Crown Vics 30 laps. The complete purses for all Ona Speedway classes are listed below.
For race fans, this will be a mega evening of racing with 235 total feature laps. The Midwest Modifieds Tour powered by Wheeler Trucking is America’s premier open wheel Modified touring series with some of the best drivers in the country coming to Ona to compete. This will no doubt be the most competitive field ever assembled for the Modified portion of the Mountaineer 100. This will be the second race of the season for the tour with the Short Track Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway the season opener on April 6th.
Ona Speedway rules will be in place for all Ona Speedway classes on April 27th. The tire rule for the Street Stocks and Late Models will allow teams to purchase/register 4 tires for the event. Teams that had not already purchased/registered 5 tires for the first race of the season on April 20th can register 5 tires so they have a spare in case of a flat tire.
General admission on Saturday, April 27th will be $20 for ages 13 and up and free ages 12 and under. All access pit passes will be $40 for ages 13 and up and free for ages 12 and under. Racing will start at 6:30 pm. The full Saturday raceday schedule will be released shortly.
The Ona Speedway is searching for sponsorship for the event. The entire event sponsorship is available. The sponsorship can also be broken up into presenting sponsors for each division. The Modified race sponsorship is $1,500, Street Stock sponsorship $500, Late Model sponsorship $400, Legends Car Pro sponsorship $250, and UCAR, Legends Car Semi-Pro, and Crown Vic sponsorship is $200 each. This is a great, inexpensive way to get sponsorship at the event. Your business name will be featured and tagged for each Facebook post for the event, mentioned over the PA, and included on the website. The Modified title sponsorship will also come with some free passes for the event. Sponsors of each division may also set up at the speedway in the midway and hang a banner for the event that they supply.
The Mountaineer 100 will close out what is set to be a busy month of April at the speedway. The track will host a preseason Test N’ Tune on Saturday, April 13th and the Daniel Linville Cabin Fever Bash on Saturday, April 20th. For more information visit www.onaspeedway.com.
