Tyler Carpenter Captures Ohio Valley Topless 50
2 min readThe 2023 Jay’s Automotive ULMS Racing Series finally kicked off its season at Ohio Valley Speedway for their Topless 50 event. The $5000 to win event saw 39 race teams in attendance from six states along with a very large crowd.
Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, WV set overall Lindemuth Laser Etching Quick Time in time trials to earn the pole in his qualifying heat. The four heat format saw the top two qualifiers in the heat events redrawing for their starting positions with Harold Redman Jr earning the pole and Carpenter redrawing the outside front row position.
Carpenter would take the lead immediately and despite several cautions would never look back the entire 50 laps. Jacob Hawkins survived a early race mishap and ran a solid second place but was over two seconds behind the race winner. Zach Hill came home third in his first ever ULMS event followed by local favorite Freddie Carpenter and Chris Carpenter who rebounded from a early race caution.
