3 min readSTRONGSTOWN, PA (June 28, 2022) – Weather isn’t the only thing heating up Dog Hollow Speedway. This Friday, July 1, Dog Hollow Speedway welcomes the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Super Late Models thanks to sponsor Memorial Highway of Windber and Somerset. Late Model fans will see double the pleasure as Almac Machine Co. of Johnstown brings in the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Series.
The ULMS is in their 22nd season and after a rainout in April they are making their first visit of the season, The 30-lap feature will pay $3500 to the winner and $500 to start. The race originally was paying $350 to start and they decided to add money through the back of the field. 26 drivers have confirmed they will be in attendance Friday night with a few others planning on it if parts arrive in time to fix their cars.
Memorial Highway Chevrolet of Windber and Somerset is the presenting sponsor of the race. The dealership has been involved in local racing sponsoring race cars. This year we are proud to have them come on board for all of our big Late Model shows and invite you to stop in if you are looking for a new or used car.
Drivers and fans can camp over night and then head to Marion Center Speedway the following night for their $5000 to win Nathan Lauer Memorial for the ULMS Super Late Models. If a driver can sweep the weekend they could take home $8500 plus $600 in bonus money. Marion Center and Dog Hollow have combined for a point fund that would see the combined top finisher getting $600, It will pay the top five. Second back is paying $400, $300, $200 and $100.
Not looking to be out done is the RUSH Touring Series sponsored by Almac Machine Co of Johnstown. The highly competitive series had six states on hand last year even with rain all around. Drivers will compete for the $3000 winners check on Friday night. The Series has averaged over 30 cars per event. The cars counts have gone from 24 to 56 with most events in the thirties and fourties and we feel we will have a great field also.
Not Surprising is the fact in the last appearance of the ULMS and RUSH Tour in 2021, the same driver won both events. That driver was Linden, VA’s Kyle Hardy. The Virginia native knows his way to victory lane at Dog Hollow. The record book shows Hardy has six Super Late Model wins and four in the crates at DHS.
Rounding out the night will be the Schaeffer’s Oil RUSH Stock Cars/Pure Stocks, Texas Auto Ranch 4 Cylinders and Modified 4 Cylinders.
