Big 4th Of July Weekend Of Money At Dog Hollow, Marion Center & Eriez

It is hard to believe that this weekend is already Independence Weekend for our country and it also means a big holiday weekend of racing for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series with a trio of events in western Pennsylvania. A possible $15,000 is available to one lucky driver if they are able to sweep the weekend along with lap money at Eriez and the mini point fund put together between Dog Hollow and Marion Center.

It all starts Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, PA. The event originally scheduled to be held at Thunder Mountain Raceway before that track ceased operation before the race season started. The 30 lap main event will pay $3500 to win and $500 to start.

Friday night will be the eighth ULMS event at Dog Hollow with former four time series champion, Max Blair having two wins along with Kyle Hardy who won last week at Roaring Knob having two ULMS wins and solo series wins for Michael Lake, Alex Ferree and Sammy Stile.

Current ULMS point leader, Jared Miley will lead the ULMS contingent into the Dog Pound Friday night with the track faithful stars of Joe Petyak, John Weaver, Dave Blazavich, Clinton Hersch and Denny Fenton expected to be on hand. Expected to join Miley are three time series winner in 2022, Gregg Satterlee, current Chew On This Jerky Rookie of the Year point leader, Colton Flinner Danny Snyder and Dave Stamm are all expected to be on hand along with other regional stars of Michael Norris, Chub Frank, former series champion and World of Outlaw star, Boom Briggs Dan Stone and Floridian Mark Whitner.

Pit Gates open at 5pm Friday night at Dog Hollow. Adult admission is $25 with pit passes being $40. Drivers Meeting begins at 6:30PM with Integra Shock Hot Lap Qualifying beginning after 7pm.

On Saturday, the series will head up the road about 20 miles to Marion Center Raceway for the Nathan Lauer Memorial paying $5000 to win and $400 to start. The main event will be 40 laps in length at the 1/3 mile oval. This will be the third ULMS series event at Marion Center will Max Blair winning both of the previous two ULMS events including last years event.

Not only is there the purse prize money but the promoters of both Dog Hollow and Marion Center put together an additional $1600 in a mini point fund between the two events with $600 going to the overall two race point leader.

Mahaffrey, Pennsylvania driver Jon Lee has been red hot at Marion Center this year and he will no doubt be looking for his first ever ULMS win at his home track. Whitner made a very rare appearance a few weeks back and took home the weekly late model win over the locals. Marion Center locals expected to be on hand to turn back the challenges of the ULMS and other regional stars are Matt Lux, John Weaver, Levi Yetter, Del Rougeux and Alex Ferree.

Drivers Meeting will be at 6:30pm on Saturday with Hot laps beginning at 7pm followed by Integra Shock Qualifying. With the event paying $5000 or more to win, the series will be having hot laps and then qualifying per ULMS rules.

On Sunday, the series head north to Eriez Speedway for the 6th annual Mike Farr Memorial paying the normal $4100 to win in the 41 lap event that currently has over $2500 in lap money.

The 41 lap event in memory of the owner of Genesis Shocks. Max Blair is the only two time winner of the prestigious event that many northwestern Pennsylvania racers try win each 4th of July weekend. Chub Frank picked up the very popular win 2020. Other past winners were Greg Oakes in 2019, in 2018 it was Max Blair with Jared Miley in 2017. Former two time series ULMS champion and defending track champion Dave Hess has been dominant at Eriez the past two years will be looking for his first Mike Farr Memorial. Other weekly stars include former mutli ULMS champion, Mike Knight, Steve Kania, Bump Hedman, Oakes, Khole Wanzer, Wyatt Scott, Darrell Bossard and others will all be looking to stop any of the ULMS stars and other outsiders such as Miley, Mike Norris, Alex Ferree, Chub, Boom and possibly the series 2022 debut of defending four time champion and current WoO Rookie of Year point leader, Max Blair and others in the one of the areas most prestigious events. Race time is 630pm with Keyser Manufacturing Hot Lap Qualifying approximately around 6:45PM Sunday night with a rain date scheduled for Monday July 4th.

For Friday’s event the race procedures will include Integra Shocks hot lap qualifying, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. No more than 5 cars will hot lap qualify at a time. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Redraw will see someone get awarded the $100 Jay’s Auto Wrecking Unlucky Dog award for redrawing the worst pill. The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners.

On Saturday at Marion Center per ULMS procedures, the race teams will have hot laps and then time trial qualifying as the event paying $5000 to win The rest of the race procedures will be as follow, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 40 lap main event Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. No more than 5 cars will hot lap qualify at a time. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Redraw will see someone get awarded the $100 Jay’s Auto Wrecking Unlucky Dog award for redrawing the worst pill. The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners. Each heat winner will receive $100 courtesy of Martin Dynamics with SSR Race Cars LLC of Wisconsin putting up a additional $200 to the overall fast time in Hot Lap qualifying and the hard charger of event will get a extra $50 from Afflixton Race Cars by Slowride.

Purse at Dog Hollow will be as follows: $3,500, $1700 $1200 $1000 $800 $750 $700 $650 $625 $600 $500 (11th -24th).

Saturday’s Marion Center purse will be $5,000, $2,200 $1,700, $1,400 $1300, $1200, $1100 $1000 $850 $700 $650 $500 $475 $450 $425 $400 (16th -24th).
