Race of Champions Tour Type Modified Series unable to attend Mr. Modified event on Saturday, June 11, 2022
2 min readSouth Amherst, Ohio (Wednesday, April 27, 2022) – Through the past few months the world has seemingly changed including prices all across the board. Joe Skotnicki, Promoter and Owner of the Race of Champions felt the series would not be able to produce the quality of show he wants in front of the fans at Lorain Raceway Park due to the factors of fuel prices, tire shortages, etc. LRP Promoter, Randy Maggio Jr and Skotnicki have built a relationship over the past few years through the RPM Promoters Workshops that made this race possible and in order to keep this relationship strong and genuine, Skotnicki was honest and communicative with the series’ concerns.
Although it’s unfortunate to have to dial back an event of this caliber before it even got started, we are very thankful for the guidance and communication with the Race of Champions and Joe Skotnicki. We will certainly look into hosting the RoC in the near future at LRP. Also on the card alongside the Tour Type Modifieds was the Open Modifieds, which is the second leg (first at LRP) in the Main Event Modified Series, and Crate Motor Modifieds from Midvale Speedway. We have not yet decided exactly what the route will be that we take for this event moving forward, however, we will keep everyone up to date.
Nevertheless, Lorain Raceway Park is back in action on Saturday, May 14th as the Midwest Supermodified Series opens their season alongside the Mighty TQ Midgets from Pennsylvania and New York, Open Wheel Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Chargers! Racing will begin at 7pm. Look for more information to be posted this week on our Facebook and website!
