Ohio Valley & Tyler County Set For Mountain State “Topless” Late Model Doubleheader
3 min readIt’ll be ‘Almost Heaven’ in the Mountain State for die-hard dirt late model fans as the Ohio Valley Speedway along with sister track Tyler County Speedway present a pair of ‘Topless 50s’ paying $5,000 to win each. The West Virginia double header weekend will kick off on Friday Night, April 29th at the Ohio Valley Speedway with a cool five grand on the line in the 50 lap ‘Topless’ main event. The Ohio Valley Speedway is home to one of the best weekly Super Late Model fields in the country. With two races in the books, Kyle Thomas and Tyler Carpenter have picked up feature wins to date. A bevy of talented shoes chomping at the bit to pick up the ‘Topless 50’ and head to the KMA Auto Victory Lane include Freddie Carpenter, defending track champion Ronnie Mayle, Zach Hill, Colten Burdette, Harold Redman Jr., Tyler Evans, and Chris Carpenter among many others.
The focus will shift to America’s Baddest Bullring on Saturday Night, April 30th for the 28th running of the Topless 50 at Tyler County Speedway. The second oldest dirt late model ‘Topless’ event in the country will roll off with another 5k on the line and bragging rights in getting your name added to the long list of impressive winners. A who’s who have claimed victory in the ‘Topless 50’ at Tyler County including names such as 4 time winner Paul Wilmoth Jr., 2 time winners Derek Doll, Jared Hawkins, Sonny Conley, Jacob Hawkins, Chuck Harper and Butch McGill along with single victories going to inaugural winner Steve Steele, Kenny Johnson, Doug Horton, Mike Benedum, Robbie Scott, Mark Banal, Steve Shaver, Tim Dohm, Tyler Erb and last years winner Shawn Jett.
Gates open at 4pm, Mini Wedges at 6pm, Drivers Meeting 6:30pm and Hotlaps/Qualifying to follow at Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday. General admission is $20 with kids 10 and under admitted Free with pit passes priced at $35. Besides the ‘Topless 50’ for the Las Trancas Super Late Models, the Polymer Services UMP Modifieds will join the card along with Pike Street Lanes Sportmods, Bill’s Auto Salvage SCDRA 4 Cylinders and Mike’s Auto Body Mini Wedges
