Van Hoy Oil Inc CRA Street Stocks 2022 Season Starts Sunday at Shadybowl Speedway
2 min readSalem, IN (March 30, 2022) – The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will start their 2022 points season as part of the 11th Annual CRA Cabin Fever Championships promoted by Track Enterprises at Shadybowl Speedway this Sunday, April 3rd. The traditional area season opener will also feature the season opening event for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS Performance , as well as the second race of the 2022 season for the Vore’s Compact Touring Series. There will also be a special $1,500 to win Modified Challenge event featuring drivers from Shadybowl Speedway, Mt. Lawn Speedway, and the Midwest Modifieds.
2022 will be the 18th season of competition for the series whose past Champions include Dean Baker in 2005, Joe Beaver in 2006, 2007 and 2009, Bret Miles Jr. in 2008, Steve Christman in 2010, Jeff Lane in 2011, Jimmy Kirby in 2012, Dustin Burge in 2013, Jason Atkinson in 2014, 2015, and 2021, Phil Jenkins in 2016, Colby Lane in 2017, James Kirby III in 2018, Jake MacElfresh in 2019 and Brandon Roberts in 2020.
Three-time series Champion Jason Atkinson tops the list of entries for Sunday’s season opener at Shadybowl Speedway along with series 2021 Rookie of the Year Dawson Phillips, 2021 Chase for the Championship contenders Andrew Teepe and Kimmie Greig. Other top CRA competitors entered include multi-time Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman winner J.P. Crabtree, Alan Williams Jr., Nathan Greene, Joe Muldoon, Troy Phillips, Dylan Hoppes, and 2022 Rookie of the Year contenders Dalton Conner, Blaine Akin and Hunter King. Northern Indiana contenders Austin and Logan Maynard are also entered. The top local entries include multi-time Shadybowl Track Champion Josh Smith, Buck Purtee, Rodney Roush, Jason Drummond and Garrett Adams.
There will be an optional open practice at Shadybowl Speedway this Saturday, pit gates open at 11am with rotating open practice from 2 to 6pm for all Cabin Fever divisions.
On Sunday, pit gates open at 8am. Spectator gates open at 10am. Practice will begin at 10am, with qualifying beginning at 12:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 2pm and will include the 75 lap Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks season opener. The event will also feature the 75-lap season opening event for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. The Vore’s Touring Compact Series will have the D&J Sales 25 Lap B4 Main and the Ault Henderson and Lewis 30 Lap Feature. The 75 lap Modified Challenge feature will cap off the huge afternoon of racing.
Grandstands will be open on Saturday for no charge. General admission tickets will be sold at the gate on Sunday, adults will be $20, kids 6 to 12 will be $5, kids 5 and under are free.
