Big $$$ Available For ULMS This Weekend
5 min readLabor Day weekend is up next for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series and there is big money on the line over the three day weekend. It all starts on Friday, September 3rd at Bedford Speedway with the annual Labor Day 55 paying $12,000 to the winner. The event will be a joint ULMS North and South region points event. On Saturday, the series head to Port Royal Speedway for the 18th annual Butch Renninger Memorial paying $6,333 in the 33 lap event and the conclusion of the weekend will be at Selinsgrove Speedway for a cool $5,000 to win event!
Friday night at Bedford Speedway, Joe Padula welcomes back the ULMS Late Model Series for the third year in a row for the Labor Day 55. Past two ULMS Labor Day 55 winners have been Rick Eckert in 2019 and Mason Zeigler found victory lane last year. Both events have supplied 36 cars the past two years and another quality field of cars are expected to be on hand.
ULMS will be led by three time defending series champion and current ULMS National point leader max Blair along with Dylan Yoder, Gregg Satterlee and Chew on This Jerky rookie of year point leader Deshawn Gingerich, along with track point leader Matt Sponaugle who has ULMS win at Bedford last August. Others expected to be on hand are track regulars, Chuck Clise, Nathan Lasalle and Wayne Johnson. Regional stars, Zeigler and Eckert along with 2015 ULMS champion, Jared Miley, Michael Norris, Alex Ferree, Matt Cosner, Dan Stone and many others will be on hand for the big paying event that pays $1200 for tenth and $700 to start Friday night.

Saturday at Port Royal Speedway will see the 18th annual Butch Renninger Memorial paying $6,333 to win for the 33 lap event that will pay $333 to start in honor and memory of the legendary Butch Renninger, who sits fourth on the all-time winners list in the Super Late model division with 41 career victories and three track championships to his name. Renninger also served diligently on the board of the speedway for decades and oversaw track preparation and concessions during that time.
The Renninger family has put up extra money for the event every year and this year is no different.
Each qualifying heat event will pay $333 to the winner courtesy of Tedd Reitz, along with $133 Hard Luck Award courtesy of Gullwing Aviation LLC and Pellman Trade and $133 will be awarded in the overall fast time in the ULMS Integra Shocks Qualifying courtesy of Snyder’s Radiator Shop. The 33 lap event will see all laps sponsored at minimum of $33 per lap for the Butch Renninger Memorial.
This will be the third year that the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series kicks off the 167th annual Juanita County Fair at Port Royal Speedway with the Butch Renninger Memorial with past winners, Tyler, Bare, Max Blair and Mason Zeigler all expected to be on hand. ULMS averages a healthy car count in the low and mid 40s in its history of the series and this event is expected to see another healthy and quality field of entries.
Joining the ULMS South region top cars of Blair, Yoder, Satterlee and Gingerich are Port Royal’s top cars which includes Dylan Yoder who is the track point leader as well by five points over dirt late model hall of famer, Gary Stuhler, Ross Robinson, Colton Flinner, Jeff Rine, last years track champion Andy Haus and several others. Satterlee has won the last three ULMS events at Port Royal and will be looking for his fourth on Saturday in the Buch Renninger Memorial.
Admission for the event will be $25 for General Admission, $10 for Students and $35 for Pits Admission. Gates will open at 3:00pm EST, while racing is scheduled to kick off at 6:00pm EST The purse for the Butch Renninger Memorial is: $6,333, $2200, $1500, $1200, $1000, $850, $800, $700, $675, $650, $550 $500, $450, $425, $400, $375, $350 (17th-26).
On Sunday the series head to Selinsgrove Speedway as the series makes its third visit in the last two years, which has seen Jeff Rine and Satterlee pick up the two ULMS wins. The 30 lap event will pay $5000 to the winner and it pay $400 to start.
Rine who won last year’s ULMS event and track championship is going into the final track point event as the point leader again by 50 points over Dylan Yoder. Those two hot shoes will be joined by Blair, Gingerich, Kyle Knapp, Jim Bernheisel, Stone, along with other Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year drivers, Shaun Jones and David Stamm plus many others expected to be on hand.
Gates open at 4PM with Integra Shock Qualifying beginning at 7PM. Adults admission is $25, Students (12-17) $15, Kids 11 & Under are free with all Pit Passes $35. ULMS Racing Series normal procedures will be in place for both days which includes Integra Shocks time trials, minimum 8 lap qualifying heat events, consolation events, Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble and the main event. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats or less will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners. All new late model teams must present their cars along with safety equipment at pre-race safety and car inspection. No cars will be allowed on the track before completing tech. All three tracks utilitze the Mylaps / AMB transponder system for all scoring and timing. Entry Fee for each event is $50.
