Evans Brothers Shine At America’s Baddest Bullring
5 min read(Middlebourne, WV) The ‘Bullring’ would take a day off on Friday to recover from Thursday’s action but would return on Saturday Night for the prestigious running of the 11th Annual Pat Herrick Memorial for Steel Block Late Models along with the rescheduled RUSH Night at the Bullring. An incredible field of some of the regions best would converge on the ‘Bullring’ to the tune of 160 racers that would produce a super night of racing.
A strong field of thirty three Steel Block Late Models would arrive looking for the $2025 first place prize in the running of the Pat Herrick Memorial. Mineral Wells, WV’s Tyler Evans would pilot the Evans Construction #17 machine into the WVU of Parkersburg Victory Lane for the first time in his career besting a great field of cars. Some superb action was taking place behind the leader but it was all Evans up front as the 2020 Ohio Valley Speedway track champion had them covered in impressive fashion. Following Evans across the line was the ‘Mad Mexican’ Troy Frazier, Zack Milbee, Tyler Riggs and Corey Delancey.
Not to be outdone by older brother Tyler, Coleman Evans would also park his Evans Construction UMP Modified in the WVU of Parkersburg Victory Lane as well. This would also be Coleman’s first ever win at America’s Baddest Bullring. A very tough field of twenty eight competitors would start the evening and the action was hot and heavy behind the leader, however it was all Coleman Evans at the line. Following Evans to the pay window was defending track champion Cody Brightwell, Kenny Johnson, week 1 winner Mark Dickson, and an impressive Anthony Arbogast would round out the top five.
The ‘Bullring’ would welcome the RUSH racers back to the Tyler County Speedway after last weeks rainout and picking up a win in the RUSH Sportsman Modified was Chas Wolbert of Warren, Ohio over Kole Holden and Garrett Krummert. In the accompanying RUSH Sprints it was Gale Ruth Jr. of Pleasantville, PA besting Chad Ruhlman and John Mollick.
Another stout field of twenty nine Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts would see a Jim Dandy of an event as the top four would race under a blanket for the races majority. A late race move in traffic would vault ‘Big Daddy’ Steve Magyar of Wileyville, WV to the WVU of Parkersburg Victory Lane over a bevy of equally fast racers. Behind Magyar was Daniel Muldrew, Logan Reed, Tom Sigler and Jeff Gorrell. Magyar pilots the Traymark LLC/ Shreff’s Hometown BBQ/ Mids Meats/ Peak Powdercoating/ AutoZone/ Headley’s Meats/ Letter Rip Graphics Bandit Chassis.
Maybe the best race of the night would take place in the Middlebourne Galaxy Sportmod division as a tremendous three car battle would ensue for the races duration between Miles Cook, Reed Bishop and Cruz Vandall. All three talented racers would go back and forth high and low on the table top smooth ‘Bullring’ surface but when the checkered flag fell it was South Charleston, WV racer Cruz Vandall backing up his Friday Night win at Ohio Valley Speedway with another WVU-P Checkered Flag. Following Vandall across the line was Bishop, last weeks feature winner Steven Dotson, CJ Dotson and Tyler Parrish.
A strong contingent of twenty four Bullring Bombers would see the first leg of the Weekend Warrior Series and Tanya Colvin of Pennsboro, WV would best them all aboard the Jackson Towing/ D&D Custom/ Mick Baker 08’ Cobalt. Following Colvin was Billy Pratt, Billy Bunnell, Bill Doll and Jason Frazier.
The youth league of auto racing would kick start the Saturday evening action with Cruz Thomas grabbing the win in the Phillips Drug Junior MWRA class ahead of Josh Baldwin and Bryson Roberts. It was Jake Casto taking the first prize courtesy of the Herrick Family in honor of the Pat Herrick Memorial over Carson Thomas and Keith Powell in the Senior Division.
Be sure to join us next Saturday Night, April 24th as the Tyler County Speedway plays host to the ‘Great American Late Model Race’ for FASTRAK Late Models paying $5,000 to win. Plus racing action in all other classes.
