RaceFest Returns As October “Fall Finale” at West Virginia Motor Speedway! ULMS / Iron-Man Series’ Co-Sanction Late Models!
3 min read(Middlebourne, WV) – Incredible excitement is in the air as West Virginia Motor Speedway continues its ongoing efforts returning ‘The Speedplant’ to racing action in 2021. Yesterday, Super Late Models returned to the track for the first time in eight years as local favorite, Freddie Carpenter tested out the racing surface for speedway officials. The general consensus was a satisfying result. Carpenter was among a few drivers to make laps whom all raved about the shape of the surface and the bright future for WVMS.
In the frame work of that future remains its most notorious weekend, RaceFest. A true festival of racing action and high speeds that only WVMS provides. The prestigious event dates back nearly thirty years and has witnessed motorsports most iconic figures in victory lane. Bloomquist, Owens, Boggs, Shaver, Hartman, Richards and many others have grabbed its hefty loot and legendary lore.
In 2021, the show will slightly resemble the 2003 version of the event. RaceFest will again welcome a pair of series co-sanctioning the event as the North meets the South for an October arrangement in the Mountain State. On October 8th and 9th the stars and cars of Chris Zuvers Northern ULMS will greet Chris Tilley’s Southern Iron-Man. Each series brings a variety of motorsports talent with PA favorite Max Blair leading the charge for ULMS while Iron-Man Ryan King currently leads the 2020 point standings.
From North to South and all points in between, Friday October 8th ULMS & Iron-Man Super Late Models will take to the Worlds Fastest Dirt Track for a solid $5,000 to win while Saturday October 9th the prime time division takes center stage for a $15,000 dollar payday.
“We’re excited to further the tradition of RaceFest at WVMS as well as bring two standout regional series into town for this prestigious fall classic” stated Watson. “Both Chris’ have solid series’ and drivers who put on great shows. I can’t wait to see their rosters blend as well as other local, regional and national drivers who want to win a possible $20,000” added Watson. “In addition, I wanted to ensure that the support divisions of the area were a big part of the weekend too so they can come enjoy the camping and atmosphere that comes along with a two day show at WVMS” concluded Watson.
As mentioned, RaceFest not only displays the full fendered division but boasts a solid slate of support divisions anxious to turn the final laps of the season on the ‘Speedplant’. UMP Modifieds, Sport Mods and Steel Blocks will roll into the speedway for a two day weekend featuring heat races on Friday night and three $1,500 to win features on Saturday respectively. In addition, the Northeast SCDRA Compacts will visit for a $2,500 to win payday spanning both paydays with qualifying on Friday and their feature events on Saturday.
